First speeding fine in 20 years.
39 in a 30, Handheld radar on a downhill section of road, 2 lanes wide..

It's a fair cop, accident blackspot apparently...

Pi55ed that I've got a blemish on my nice clean license..

Take the points or do speed awareness course? what say you?

Speed awareness. If nothing else it'll hopefully make you a bit more aware of the consequences of speeding. Points won't change your behaviour unless close to a ban.

Speed Awareness definitely as points make for more expensive insurance. However, be aware that some insurers insist you declare that you have been on a SA course and will still penalise you. Your SA instructor should be able to confirm which ones these currently are (seem to remember it included Admiral when I went).

Admiral definitely do ask this and load the premium accordingly.

No brainer to do the speed awareness course. Pay the money and get told how much of a child killer you are then go home with a clean licence.

uploadfromtaptalk1437316543152.jpg50 in a 35 or so i was told. Where i live in NC there is some kinda "good ol boy club" you are best pay a lawyer to go and represent you. This is my first one in years and it says i have to go to court no fine cost on ticket. 400$ to the lawyer to take care of it.

If its a TS10 code, aka basic 3 points it doesn't affect you premiums much at all, or should I say it has never affected mine in the past but it may have changed in the last 2 years since mine are clear

Is anyone running radar detectors to try and prevent this? If so which ones?

I have a 10yr old V1. (Valentine One) But I am now considering updating or upgrading.

I used to have a road angel, I don't see how they will prevent getting caught though.

I don't think they can prevent tickets but that can warn you so you possibly have time to slow down.

Pointless here as they use laser, radar is so 90's :D

Many of the current units do laser as well. And they can pick up laser bounce from great lengths before the laser can really register your actual speed. Heck some of the new escort units use "escort live" an online data base of speed traps red light cameras, where cops sit regularly, that will warn you as you are approaching.

I am just wondering if anyone uses anything. Around here they still use old school radar as well as laser. So they come in handy for me.
