Octavia III 5e 2015
Hello everyone.
I need help with this.

My car is a 2015 skoda octavia III that had a standard bi-xenon with halogen bulb daytime running light 5E1941015A + 5E1941016A.

The headlights were replaced by the model that adds an LED strip for daytime running light, which also has a halogen bulb(w5w) for the position light function.

5E1941015B + 5E1941016B

The biggest difference between one headlight and another is that the second has a module screwed underneath to control the led strip.

After the change I see that the left strip does not turn on and gives an error code B121D15 in OBD11

I thought it would be plug&play and some coding but it won't be that easy, I

I only coded the channels of the led drl strips and the position lights

Leuchte 2-3 and 4-5

looked for the coding here:

@progchild: Hi and thanks for the PM!
First, I have to congratulate you on providing an information rich post - well done (it's seldom that I see such a magnificent amount of data on a forum question)!💥

OK, now for your problem. Let's start with a few words about nomenclature - specifically the rules that VW/Audi/Skoda impose regarding the naming convention of a Leuchte-set. For example, let's take the first Leuchte-set in your post above Leuchte2SL VLB10. Notice the part of the Leuchte-name that I've highlighted -
  • "L" means that this Leuchte-set is allocated to the left ("links" in German) car-side. Those Leuchte-sets that are allocated to the right ("rechts" in German) car-side will have a "R" in this position
  • "B10" means that this Leuchte-set will control pin #10, Socket B on the module @ address hex09
These details (above) are important for reading your wiring diagrams because they tell you which Leuchte-set on your new lights control the specific pins/sockets on your wiring diagrams

So, for the left-side DRL error, the difference between the halogen and LED fittings is:
  • both fittings use pin #4, Socket B - but the LED fitting also uses pin #10, Socket B
This means that the relevant Leuchte-sets for the left-side DRL on the new fitting are:
  • Leuchte4TFL LB4 - this is the Leuchte-set that determines the illumination levels for the different light-functions, and
  • Leuchte2SL VLB10 - this Leuchte-set establishes the power-supply requirements for the new DRL module ( i.e., J860 in your wiring diagram and "N° 11 in the picture")
I'm not sure about your Skoda, but for VW cars that are built on a MQB platform - here's the factory coding for both the left/right side DRLs with LED lamps:

Leuchte4TFL LB4

Hi Don,

I have tried the new configuration but nothing has changed, everything remains the same.

In module 9 there is also a daylight settings menu, I attached a capture of obd11

On the drive2.ru forum they have done a lot of halogen to xenon conversions and looking at the 14 pin headlight connector wires they don't seem to match mine.

for example:
https://www.drive2.ru/l/452336885717532753/
https://www.drive2.ru/l/8550818/
It's in Russian but I'll try to translate it connection example:

007.jpg

004_hf3_hf3.jpg

I have attached photos of my headlight connectors.
I have seen that for conversion from halogen to xenon they sell some adapters but from xenon to xenon + led drl I have not seen them for the octavia, for the golf they do exist for sale.
I think I'm going to have to make them, do you think?
thanks for helping

These are the connections for my headlights, the left side and the right side are different.

I don't understand electrical diagrams, can someone help me identify the function of each wire of each color in my headlights?

I don’t have the coding for an Octavia but based on your provided wiring diagrams Don‘s coding looks good to me too.

However since only the left LED stripe isn’t working I would rule out some things:
1. Double check all connections are made right. Headlight main connector and connector of module #11. Since you don’t get any faults during coding of Leuchte2&4 the module is most likely properly connected
2. Swap module #11 between left and right headlight. Does the fault move w/ the module or stay w/ the light?

As for the W5W bulbs. You have coded Leuchte16/17 but there is no physical connection between BCM and your headlight plugs cavity #13. I guess if you set Lasttyp16/17 to „not active“ the faults go away. Somehow you need to add 2 wires between the BCM and your headlight plugs to get them working. Does that make sense?

I have two original modules to change, the ones I have installed are the cheap ones.
I also have a spare left headlight, in case the problem was caused by a damaged headlight.
I'll find a shop to check it out.

As for the wiring to the bcm, halogen headlights also don't have a wire on pin 13 and with an adapter (halogen to xenon if sold) people can get the whole thing working.
Leuchte16/17 would be the rear indicators, it works well.

This is the 10 pin halogen connector, it does not have pin 13, It's in Russian, it's the only site where I can find information on this topic

hmm......... lots of confusion about this project (at least for my understanding)

Please answer ALL these questions - so everyone contributing to this tread is on the same page:
  1. Are the wiring diagrams in your first posts for this specific car (i.e. correct build year and model and country)?
  2. Are the new headlights true OEM - meaning Skoda supplied fittings (NOT meaning headlights made by a third party manufacturer and sold as OEM)?
  3. If I count the number of wires in the headlight loom for the old/new fittings on your wiring diagrams: old fitting=9 x wires, new fitting=10 x wires.
So, for the DRL on the old fitting- only 1 x wire is used. However, for the new fitting - 2 x wires are needed for the DRL.
Did you install this extra wire and did you terminate the new wire on the socket on the hex09 module? If you only made pin termination changes at the headlight connector end- how did you accommodate the extra wire that supplies power to the new J680/J681 (see pin #10 & pin #12 on the headlight connector in your wiring diagrams)?

Headlights are oem, I didn't make any changes to the wiring.
I know that the bcm is under the steering wheel and that the wiring is passed under the battery but I have no idea how to connect it or to which pin

Again I'm no expert in Octavia's. To me as I read your provided diagrams BCM Pin T46b/35 = B35 needs to be connected to Pin13 of the left 14Pin headlight connector w/ a yellow wire. Cavity #13 is empty on your vehicle connector currently. I can't speak for any Halogen adapters from personal experience, but a quick glance on google tells me they need to be connected to the BCM as well. [Note: Please don't buy these adapters, they won't fit your car!]

Image from: https://www.need4street.de/Adapter-Bi-Xenonscheinwerfer-fuer-Skoda-Octavia-5E

So far on every MQB model I have worked on I only ever saw that Leuchte16 is connected to T73c/9 = C9. However as the light channel name description looks like Skoda might use it under T47b/35 as well? Leuchte16BLK SLB35BLK SL KC9. Maybe Don knows more about that? Are C9 and B35 on our BCMs internally connected?

Again I'm no expert in Octavia's. To me as I read your provided diagrams BCM Pin T46b/35 = B35 needs to be connected to Pin13 of the left 14Pin headlight connector w/ a yellow wire. Cavity #13 is empty on your vehicle connector currently. I can't speak for any Halogen adapters from personal experience, but a quick glance on google tells me they need to be connected to the BCM as well. [Note: Please don't buy these adapters, they won't fit your car!]

Thanks for your post, very good diagram.

In the right headlight is not necessary to modify anything?

regarding leuchte 16 and 17, in this post they mention that they are necessary for w5w bulbs:

"lamp M1 (35 pin BCM pads B) is the 16th channel of adaptations.
For another headlight, this is (3 pin BCM pads B) - this is the 17th adaptation channel"

Based on the functions of 4-5 channels,
this is the main nutrition of the stripes.
2-3 work on DRL and attenuation ...
on channel 4-5 dimvert 127 and this is full power,

at 2-3 100 for DRL and 35 for dimensions.

Same is necessary on the right side. As you said B3.

Have you tried to set Lasttyp16 /17 to not active? If there’s nothing connected it will throw a fault code.
