Interesting, when you get a chance can you take a picture of your system information page? It should have a hardware part number, 5NA035xxx most likely. When you say retrofitted MIB 2.5 do you mean you have MIB 2.5 but had it modified to use the 8" screen

Here's my device info @Cuzoe

Yeah, that was an option for some units (Technisat's only I think) that would reset when changing tracks. My unit is a Harman but I did try that option, still no luck. Do you know if you have a Gen1 or Gen2 unit? Same question for @Acadia18 as well. Mine is a Gen2.

@Datboireal I assume yours is Gen2 as well if you just got it. Please let us (me) know how it works for you, and post what radio you have as well if you don't mind. We (I, haha) would appreciate it.
I have the Gen 2 AAwireless. And again for clarification I have the standard mk7 MIBII unit for 2016s which is the 6.5" model.

Thanks for the info. I'm sending my unit to @Acadia18 for research purposes. At minimum we can confirm whether my dongle works. After that I can start isolating in my car ?‍♂️.

I have the identical setup, and mine is working flawlessly.

May have been mentioned, but one thing that did trip me up, before doing anything w/ the AA dongle, "forget" your cars bluetooth and existing android auto connections.

I have been using my aawireless for over a month. I would say in 95% of the times, the headunit stays in the main screen where it asks for "Android Auto" or "Mirror Link" and I have to manually click and connect.
Do you guys have the same thing? any fix for this?
I am using it with Pixel 5, I assume the phone isn't the issue.
Thanks

This should get your phone/AA to request video focus once connected. How consistently this works is still head unit dependent though. FWIW, it does work for wired AA in my car, so long as AA was the last thing I had showing on the screen when I turned the car off...

Thanks. I don't have such option in developer mode in android 12. I remember in 2016 gti, I had the same issue using the usb cable.
Is there a way to remove the MirrorLink from the list? in MIB2.5.

I have these adaptations in my MIB 2.5. I don't know if setting the first one to OFF would get would get rid of the MirrorLink option but it's easy enough to try if you have VCDS or OBDEleven...

There is also something in long coding for MirrorLink but I think it has to do with telling the MIB which type of USB port is installed.

Thanks. I have to purchase a OB11. I have a pro account.
So you all go through the same process as I described and click on AndroidAuto every time?
Cheers,

My car sometimes goes straight into AA when I plug in. From memory it only seems to do it when AA was the last thing running. But it may not be consistent. I can't say it's something I've paid attention to or tested in any way. Other times I have to select it.

Mine launches direct to Android Auto every time. Pixel 6, MIB2 (2016 R).

Have you done any tweaks to the app or headunit?
Today I turned on the "Auto Video Focus" in the aawireless app but still the same thing.
