I've had mine for about a month now and love it. Automatically connects everytime I get in with zero problems. Would definitely buy again, worth not having to mess around with a cord and the AA disconnecting if I turn too hard.

AAwireless IMO is a must have for anyone who uses Android auto daily.

I just received a replacement unit for a problem I had with disconnects. The first connection after startup would typically work for ~10 minutes, 2 maybe 3 songs. Then it would disconnect, car shows Android Auto connection "cancelled," and the dongle would restart. It will then reconnect on it's own, without me touching anything. After the first time it never stayed connected for more than 5 minutes, typically I couldn't get through a song. I opened a support case and tried all their suggestions, nothing worked.

They eventually asked me to send in the unit, which they replaced. This one does the same thing unfortunately :(. While it's connected it works great, no difference from having the phone wired. But the constant restart/reconnects make it unusable for me at this point. I don't think it's an MIB software issue, although I've only ever tried it on my MIB 2.5. I've sat and watched and this is how it goes for me...
  1. The dongle LED is green on startup
  2. Turns blue shortly (less than 25 seconds I would guess) once connected
  3. Wireless AA works great, usually about 10 minutes
  4. Blue LED goes out, car says connection was cancelled
  5. About 5 seconds later LED comes on green as the dongle restarts
  6. Again turns blue shortly and all is reconnected/working
  7. Then it repeats 4, 5, 6 every few minutes (but while connected works with zero issue)
I don't suspect it's a heat issue (despite the first connection always lasting the longest). Car is garaged, it does this even when I've had the dongle in the house, and I have yet to feel the dongle even get warm. Wired connection with my phone is solid. I get an unexplained disconnect maybe once/twice a month but I reconnect and have no problems. The restart behavior makes me think the dongle isn't getting enough power from the USB port. It's the only thing I can think of that would be different between having a phone connected and having the AA Wireless dongle connected. I know the phone charges (slowly) while connected, but even if the USB port stopped supplying power it wouldn't impact AA, the phone would just stop charging.

Can anybody with it working send me their options from the app? And maybe also share your MIB info? I would really appreciate it.

Cuzoe and Android Auto issues. Name a more iconic pair ?

I can send you my settings/options tomorrow. Already in bed and it's cold out ?

Ugghhh, isn't that the truth, hahaha. But man, poor support from the company that I won't name, providing a "plug and play" solution that works worse than an off the shelf unit.

AA Wireless settings and MIB info. I'm on MIB2 though.

I literally plugged it in and used all the default settings. Didn't have to change a thing. I have the standard MIB2 screen and currently using a Samsung Note 9.

Thanks @Acadia18 and @2slowvw. I'm on MIB 2.5 with a Pixel 4a (just updated to Android 12 yesterday, not sure how I feel about it yet). I already had MIB 2.5 when I got the dongle, and I sold my MIB 2 and the screen so I can't go back and try that. Looks like both of you are at default everything. On my first unit I started that way (and then tried everything else). The developers eventually had me connect without installing the app at all. The app allows all those options, and updating of the dongle, but basic functionality doesn't require having it installed.

Anyway, I've only tried the replacement unit without the app thus far. This weekend I'll install the app just to see if there's an OTA update available for the dongle. Since you guys are running everything default I'm not going to waste time trying every combination of settings. If it doesn't work on the latest software I guess I'll be giving up on it after waiting so long to get it, ugggghhhh. It's unusable restarting every few minutes.

If anyone reading this has MIB 2.5 I would be willing to send you my dongle (I'll pay shipping both ways) to try. Can't think of any other way to see if the MIB 2.5 is the problem. I did replace my USB port in the cubby, but did not replace the cable, not sure I feel like trying that.

I do feel like when i was installing the appt o connect everything, they had some sort of option to toggle for certain VAG cars if there was an issue. I left it off and figured if it was messed up i would toggle it on but everything worked fine out of the box so i never went back into the app.

Yeah, that was an option for some units (Technisat's only I think) that would reset when changing tracks. My unit is a Harman but I did try that option, still no luck. Do you know if you have a Gen1 or Gen2 unit? Same question for @Acadia18 as well. Mine is a Gen2.

@Datboireal I assume yours is Gen2 as well if you just got it. Please let us (me) know how it works for you, and post what radio you have as well if you don't mind. We (I, haha) would appreciate it.

@Cuzoe I believe mine is a Gen 2 edition. I've got a retrofitted mib 2.5 8" in my Golf MK7. No idea if its a Harman or Technisat etc. sorry ?‍♂️. I had a few issues setting it up. Had to manually add the bluetooth to my phone. Then i had a message come up a few times on the infotainment system saying to authorise use on my mobile phone (something like that). Then it just started working! No issues since this morning after problems on that initial set up (afternoon now in UK). Been on 3 separate drives since and its loaded up no problem.

Interesting, when you get a chance can you take a picture of your system information page? It should have a hardware part number, 5NA035xxx most likely. When you say retrofitted MIB 2.5 do you mean you have MIB 2.5 but had it modified to use the 8" screen?

Mine is Gen 1, have had it for a few months. Backed it within 24 hours of going up, so was lucky enough to get the first shipment.

Yeah i will do @Cuzoe. I'm currently at work so will be a few hours until i can.
I originally had a mib 1 composition media infotainment system but I had a mib 2.5 with 8" screen retrofitted in the summer.
