I noticed some water in the roof lining, and turned out I broke the horrible clip in the hatch when I installed my rear dashcam last month, but just didn't notice.

Watching some videos and reading online, most people recommend to replace it, which I have no problem doing - however mine broke on the left side which turns out to be much harder than the right side as it involves the third brake light cable which requires removing the rear bumper and so on and so forth.

Since I don't plan to route any more cables, I figured I'd just use some silicone to seal it up.

Can you guys recommend anything or a specific type to use when sealing it shut to prevent water? Someone recommended superglue which apparently adheres very good to the car's body but that seems a bit overkill/dangerous.

Thank you.

I use black RTV for stuff like that.

If you really want to fix it right, you can 3d print the clips

I just used clear RTV to re-seal mine the other day. I used strong duct tape to hold it in place after applying the sealant for about an hour before removing tape and closing the hatch.

The first application of rtv held up for like 2 years before it started to leak. Also be sure to tighten the inner taillight bolts as water can leak through there too.

Replaced both sides on my car. Just added a little 2-pin connector for the third brake light to make it easier 😂
