Re 2016 GTI SE with performance pack. (larger calipers?)

stock wheel and tire are 225 40 ZR 18

wheels are 18 x 7.5 x ? offset

If I install 18 x 8 x +45MM wheels ( Enkei EMK3) will these move the tire outboard more?

stock offsets for mk5+ VW wheels are usually 45ish or more. Aftermarket wheel designs generally have more caliper clearance in spoke design. If tirerack sells the rim you are looking at...they will tell you. I would be more concerned with proper hubcentric rings...as the enkei centerbore most likely doesnt match 57.1...

Barely noticeable…. You’ll still need spacers

18x8.5 et45 is the normal aftermarket set up and either play with spacers or run et35 if you want aggressive.

So if my offsets are approx equal the back of my 8” rim is approx 1/4” closer to the suspension than OEM 7.5” rim and the street side is approx 1/4” wider

Are you saying I will need 1/4” spacers to move the wheel street side?

… 25.4mm = 1”

You'll need more if you want to be flush with the fender...all depends on what you like
