What is this button for?

Happy New Year.

I have just bought my mk7 golf. I do not have the manual. I have found this button on the panel next to driver's door. What is it for?
It lights up when you press it.

It turns off the interior monitoring function of the alarm (useful if you leave dogs in a locked car like I do)
