What is the most stealth hitch?

Hi, what is the most stealthy hitch available for a 2016 Golf R?

Doesn’t get much stealthier than a Curt. Only the receiver is visible.

I just went through this and got the Drawtite hitch which is a cheaper version of the ecohitch. Curt doesn't list a compatible hitch for 2016 but there is one for the 2017 model - I thought there wasn't a difference between 2016 and 2017 but there is and it doesn't fit as I tried!


So the only options for the 2016 model is the Ecohitch and Drawtite which are both similar setups that look as stealth as you can get.

Thanks guys. I decided to go with a curt hitch https://www.curtmfg.com/part/11564. It's less expensive but similar to the eco hitch. Also using curt t-connector for 2017 golf R. I have a 2016 but they are the same so I dont know why 2016 isnt listed.
I plan on towing a couple dirt bikes on a trailer, aprox 1200lbs total max.

I've got the curt + curt T-connector for the lights. Totally happy with the fitment and stealthiness.

Tomorrow I'm pulling a u-haul with 700 lbs of slate paving stones 230 miles. That's its shakedown test!

Do all of these require the bumper cover to be cut? I'm not going to leave my hitch on all the time and I definitely do not want to cut the bumper cover on a 2-day old car.

Yes, all the hitches with the hidden cross member bar required you to remove a section of 3.5"x2.5" from the rear valance. I used a dremel to cut it and a piece of rubber hose for trim.

Zero in North America.
VW gives the Europe market aprox 1500lbs tow capacity without trailer brakes and 3500lbs with. I dont have any concerns with my little trailer
