This morning the factory battery finally gave up the ghost at just under 51,000 miles and almost 8 years. It had been cranking slowly for the past week or so, so I'm glad it decided to die in the garage.

I replaced it with a Walmart H6 AGM battery and an Aliexpress cloth battery cover for the bigger size (replacing an H5). I've only had the cover for 4 years - I didn't at all expect the original battery to last this long!

And yes, I did the coding for the new battery using OBDeleven, especially since it was a different type.

you got 8 years out of the OEM battery? That's nuts

I know. But I'm the original owner, so I know it was never changed before. I expected to have to replace it three or four years ago, but it just kept kicking. Either the factory made one amazingly well built battery in early 2017, or Cleveland's lack of high heat reduced stress on it.

I also drive like a grandpa, so my underhood temps may be lower than someone who's always working the turbo hard. That'll probably bite me down the road with a cubic yard of carbon on the valves...

Just got my new 8” screen with snakeskin bezel to match the 2015 interior, off AliExpress. Should have done this sooner!!!

Shhhh, don't talk about batteries. My car might hear, bought in April, 2018, original one.

Planning on doing the same as you for the battery when it is time. My 20 mile, each way commute, half hwy speeds prob gives the battery a decent charge.

I also picked up a digital cluster. I need to stop reading about all of the retrofits that @Cuzoe has done because I have a whole list of tempting retrofit options lined up... (please convince me that the 2Q0 camera is not a worthwhile upgrade from 3Q0).
I picked up the digital cluster from AliExpress (HIRIOT). It is code Free since you reuse your analog cluster motherboard. It came in great shape and I was able to do the swap. However, I can’t start the car. I push the start button but no crank. Any ideas? I ruled out the battery.

Oh my sweet summer child......

You could barely tell I had a SMF when I only had a stage 2 engine mount, after doing the trans side in stage 2 there's no hiding it now.
You’re right…. Can definitely feel the tranny mount lol…every shift

Guessing that from your seat behind that new built block that every one of those shifts feels awesome! 😎

For us mere mortals that transition is gon be a bit more jarring... Lolz

I figured it out. I didn’t have the cables in the back seated all the way. The purple clip wasn’t in the locked position. I’m embarrassed it was a stupid mistake. But I’m so happy it was a simple fix.

Simple fixes are the best, and it doesn't hurt to have a reminder for the rest of us to double check our connections and not panic if post-mod something doesn't work.

Truth right there

Often as not troubleshooting posts end up being "go back through it again and find what you didn't reconnect correctly..."

That's a good thing tho, easy to find & fix 😉

my favorite trouble shooting code of all time (sarcasm) was p0299 which was for my mk6... (underboost for turbo) anytime I would go search and check the final result of the posts for the fix or the final update, it always ended in "sold the car" "replaced the turbo, went k04" which I almost did, but my other option was upgrading to the mk7 which I am happy I did instead. I ended up selling the car with that code lol.
