What did you get in the mail or bring home for your MKVII today?

Picked up CTS engine and transmission mounts on sale.

I know these don't have the best reputation for durability but I'm not prepared to shell out for BFI mounts just yet. Also, I don't have a high tolerance for NVH so these seemed like a safe choice. Can't wait to install them this weekend!

How's the machining on these? There's another thread where someone received a set that was very poorly quality controlled, or used but sold as new. Also looking forward to your opinion after install, do you have another thread?

You're right. Though I think it's dumb not to use a name unless you have something to hide, it's irrelevant to the fact that he sells dangerous "upgrades" that aren't street legal.
I see absolutely no correlation between not using a name and "hiding your identity".

Guilty of selling HID kits that may be illegal or dangerous, sure. Reselling led lights at a markup for profit, sure. He's not the first or the last to do that, it's pretty normal actually. But the name accusation is ridiculous. He has a legitimate business, using a name or not adds (or subtracts) nothing.

Nope, I don’t drink the aid...especially when it from Facebook group.

👍
Sachs SRE is rated to 390tq, yet you use the same pressure plate but with the ceramic 6 puck from Sachs and it’s rated to 500+ TQ, between the crank walk preconceived fear would be the same no?
my orig post was a popcorn post

Srsly from what I've read people who are Techs say CW is uncommon. I would be aware of it if upgrading clutch to handle big power but the clutch slip that I've had in my stock GTI (I learned you can't just mash gas in high gear!) has me thinking if I ever have to replace my clutch I'll go up a bit in strength in it even though big power is not my style. Even at stock level of power the OEM clutch seems marginal and I have more fear of slip than walk.

Those are great looking wheels what do they weigh?
26lbs range... very popular brand with mk6,5,4s. Great looks that brand has just not common around here since lightweight is typically the goal around golfmk7.com
Yeah they're pretty heavy but look great.

Yup.. All true. 8lbs heavier than the wheels I'm currently running, per corner. I look at it this way, I'm not going to track or even "run" my car, so weight isn't super high on my priority list. It's up there, but not too the degree we all see on this forum. I want a nice balance between looks and power.... Plus, I fell in love with the looks.....and it'll clean easier lol

Yikes, I know exactly what thread you're referring to and it's nothing like that set. The machining is fine, appropriate for the price I suppose, but nothing to write home about.

I'm planning to install these this weekend and will post some pictures and impressions on my car journal.

I see mixed info on hid kit being illegal and legal. Im gonna go with its probably not legal, but also not really enforced. Some kits here and there say its dot approved but its just something I have enough info on. It seems like more of a myth. Yes people who have bright lights are aholes. But I cant find an actual state law on this.
This is one of the things that's definitely illegal but the police don't have the resources to actually go out and enforce it. If you have a choice to pull over the douche with the bright lights or the dude doing 85 you're going to pick the speeder everytime.

My views and experiences on the stock clutch’s abilities are not of the mass group either. My mk6 gli has 120k on it, and Has intake and apr stage 1 tune that was flashed on it at 60k (that first week after it got out of warranty, lol) still as of today the clutch is not slipping.

My mk7 as it sits right now, has full bolts on, a hybrid is38 with water/meth injection, and jb4 with boost levels at up to 9psi over stock *higher rpms and while I’m extremely surprised myself to say the stock is still holding.

Normalizing what he's doing is lame. I couldn't care less if he wants to sell $3 LEDs for $40, more power to him if he can find suckers who will overpay. But the HID conversion kits are another matter entirely. He should be shut down and jailed. He's literally endangering the driving public at large and profiting from it.

We get it. You don't like the guy or his company.

I just want to point out that removing or modifying your catalytic converter is also illegal.
Also, going 65 in a 45 is too, and my ability to do that is because VW... they are at fault

Got 4 APR exhaust tips for a Golf R. I don't have an R, or even an exhaust. Probably going to hold onto two of them for when my buddies shop opens up again and he can Tig up a custom exhaust since AWE is the only setup available for the GLI, but $1500+ for a Mig welded exhaust is silly.

The other two tips I'm going to polish up and make some pen cups for the office.....When I have an office again....View attachment 169855
You could send me the other 2 for my GLI 😏😉
