Installed JB C1 650's. Should have done it day 1. The stock speakers were made of dirt wet socks.

Tell me more. Did you cut wires? How did you mount the crossover? Did you add an amp, or do you wish you did? Any clearance issues? What did you do with the tweeters? You have a Rabbit so no Fender, correct?

Thanks

The C1 have built in crossover for the driver, so I just used connectors off amazon and plugged the driver in. I used a basic 1/2" spacer and they fit perfect. Crutchfield says they don't fit, but they don't fit with Crutchfield's adapter. The tweeters are designed to plug into the driver and have a small crossover inline in the wiring. I removed the stock tweeters, added the same style plugs as the wiring has to the stock wires, hot glued the new tweeters in, plugged them in tucked the small crossover and wiring right into the a pillar trim. The worst part of the whole thing was removing the rivets holding the stock speakers in place. I took a drill bit to the side of my hand. Red splattered on arctic white is pretty.

Mine is the base stereo, sounds much better even without an amp, it does make me want to get a small powered subwoofer though. That's next. I've heard the fender. With a decent sub, this will sound better.

Several people asked me for information on installing the JL C1 650's and wanted to know what I used. Looks like price has jumped about $30 since I purchased. This is the video I used and the parts. I used the metal c clips from the speakers over the factory holes and the provided screws to hold spacers to car. I ran the speaker wires for the drivers through the taped over hole right next to the speaker hole. You'll have to drill speaker mounting holes after marking the spacers, but do that before mounting the spacers. The tweeters I did exactly as in the video, but the JL inline crossover is bigger than what they used in the video. So either buy a similar one to the video or just be patient and remove some of the extra wire and tape it in place in the trim with hot glue. I used a zip tie to hold excess wiring that I didn't trim on the tweeter side.

Only thing else I had to buy was male speaker connectors.
