I installed my new Golf R LED tails this weekend; but after installation I noticed a small crack on one of the lenses. I tried seeing if it could be polished out, maybe it's a scratch but it's definitely a small crack. :(

Closeups of the crack:

Working on getting in touch with the UK VW dealer that sold them to me to see what can be done. Pretty bummed about it since the lights look great otherwise...

Me and all my friends are huge jamband fans and we often refer to really good jam segments as heaters, as in "WE GOT HEATERS BOYS"

Installed the LED trunk strip from deautokey. Love it!

awesome, trying to decide between this and the LED trunk light...I don't use my cargo cover, but do have a CarGO mat in the trunk like you...was there room to install it on the base of the hatch (where the latch is) or does the CarGO mat block it's ability to light the trunk? Thanks

Light mounted underneath the parcel tray makes more sense. If the light is on the cargo mat and you throw stuff on top of it, it's not going to be very useful.

Yeah, for some I can see that being more useful, but I don't use the cargo tray (it is stored in my garage) and have my seats down half the time for storage...for my needs, mounting it lower would be better, I'm just wondering from the OP if that blocks anything - this is how deAutoKey has it on their site and in their main review video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIN7ah4r29A), but without the CarGO mat (which sticks up an extra inch or so)...basically for me, it is between this (mounted lower) or replacing the stock bulb with an LED

Installed the last piece of the puzzle to be completely LED interior wise... the glove box. I don't know why all the stock lights except the trunk and glove box came as LED from the factory...

If i were in your shoes, i'd look at installing a second housing or a strip on the left side of the hatch. (Nevermind uneveness in lighting, two different bulb setups pictured here).

Hmm interesting idea, I haven't seen that done before...is that your car? If so, did you just tap into the current trunk light and run it to the other side? Is there a clean way to mount that light in the carpeting and make it look semi-stock? Thanks! Looks good and I definitely need a little more light back there

It is my car. You're spot on. It's a simple splice with wire running underneath the latch trim into a VW trunk plug (so it plugs happy into any vw trunk assembly) and the leftover trunk housing from when i added the deauto trunk replacement. It's not in the carpet however. What i actually did was trim out a bit of the plastic webbing that's present on that side so it's mounted in a similar fashion as the original light. It doesn't feature the plastic housing as per the OEM mounting light, but it sits there pretty neat. I'll get some photos later.
