Very nice, MattB. Looks stellar.
Absolutely agree. Looks stellar
Did my first oil change this weekend (5300~ miles) with a Castol kit from ECS. Also installed the flush OE wheel kit from ECS. Now I just need to research and decide what I want to do for a decent drop to get rid of the wheel gap.
Today I installed the matte black w/ red border front badge. I also got the rear badge but haven't installed it yet.
I like the badges man. My car is on 4200 and I'm anticipating my first oil change soonly myself. Now for lowering my first recommendation would be coilovers. Yes it is more expensive but you can adjust your ride height and you don't have to worry about replacing your stock struts eventually. I took that recommendation from someone on here and purchased a set of H&R Street Performance coilovers off of eBay as an open box item not used for $900 as opposed to $1450 brand new. This is what I got.

Looks good! Thanks for the recommendation. I'm hoping to see if I can get a ride in some other GTIs with springs or coilovers in my area to see how the ride quality is. I like the balance of handling and comfort that the stock suspension gives, I just want to make sure it's not a huge compromise on comfort to go lower.

Thanks Npdogg,
I found them on eBay.de, the seller had them listed as collection only but I asked him nicely, in German, and he agreed to ship them to the UK. The seller had way undervalued them, and he had listed them simply as "VW 7.5 x 18", no mention of Belvedere even in the description. I was lucky to stumble across them, but I spent many hours trawling through the listings. Sometimes they are listed as SOMO40 or SOMO 40, or just by the part number 5G0601025CF. There are often single wheels listed, if you have the patience to buy them one at a time.
I have found that the best stuff on the German eBay, or any other foreign eBay for that matter, is often hidden from international bidders, so what I do is add the address of a random hotel from that country into my eBay address book and then select it as my shipping addtess before I search. Then if I find something I add it to my watch list. Then I change my delivery address back to normal and check the item again in my watch list, often the international shipping is automatically calculated, otherwise I just contact the seller and ask for a quote. They are usaully OK with international shipping, helps if you ask them in their language as it is less hassle for them, I use Bing Translator.
They are only 7.6kg each, so the shipping shouldn't be that expensive, even if they are sent seperatley, like mine were.
Good luck with your search!
