"Acceptable"? Unless I'm missing something here, I think it looks great.
The finish isn't perfectly smooth due to sanding differences between the layers of the original paint, and there's one section where the clear is a bit heavy.

Nothing but I drove a 2019 Carrera T that is for sale over at the Porsche dealer in Houston. PDK car, sport chrono and after the test drive I didnt want to get out of it.

Engine back in. Not terrible but definitely more challenging than getting it out.

So now I can safely unbolt the flex plate. I'll pull the starter and crack the rest of the trans bolts while I'm at it.

Then I'll pull the engine again, but this time with the crane more extended. I need the engine further from the mast so there's more room between the legs to get my trans jack in position.

Then I'll ratchet strap the trans to the jack platform for separation.

I was hoping to reuse some trans bolts from a B8 Audi to ZF 8HP I have laying around. Anybody know the minimum length for engine stand bolts?
Joke's on me. There aren't any flex plate bolts because it's a got a dual mass flywheel. Oh well.

Trans is off. Very tricky to do solo, but got it done. Few ring gear scratches on the inside on the bellhousing, but otherwise incident free. Just very slow.

White? AP brakes? Just googled, it looks sweet.
Yep, that is it. Wife says house first, which I think we are shooting the offer early next week. There is another I want to go look at in San Antonio, in sapphire blue. With the Carrera T, I can testify that after driving the car once in regular mode, and then a second time with a twitch of the sport chrono steering wheel dial to "Sport," they are indeed very different modes and feel very different. Such an amazing car. Now the question is do I get that or build a custom order one. It would most likely be Gentian Blue, or Amethyst metallic (PTS color).

Alignment at dealership after Firestone jacked up the last one (how do you forget to tighten subframe bolts?).
Every Firestone in my area has refused to touch the subframe on any VAG car I've brought in haha

You can pull the engine out on dollies and split the trans/engine on dollies. Same thing putting it together. Once you get 2 bolts front and back on the dollies, the engine/trans just slips together. Takes me 3.5 hours to pull an engine/transmission combo including front end dissassembly to the time splitting the trans case from the engine.

I have done this now 3 times because a piston ring land cracked in my new engine 2500 miles in. Luckily some guy in north carolina had a 2023 audi a3 45Tfsi piston for 31$ on ebay. Messured the piston CCs, my engine appears to have 3 pistons with 9.3 compression and 1 piston with 9.1 compression

That makes a lot of sense. I was worried about putting any serious amount of weight on the plastic of the pan. Did you have tires on your dollies or something?

No i am running the steel pan from ebay for around 45$..
You can probably run some sort of knew pad from homedepot on the dollies, it still shouldn't crack. Their a high tensile plastic. Even if they did, you can just install a steel pan afterwards.

Flashed my first SimosTools tune last night to my GTI! I've been EQT stage 2 ECU and TCU for ~4 years now and overall it's been pretty solid. It's also quite aggressive targeting ~28 psi peak boost on the IS20 at low RPM and I've been getting EPC lights and the P2563 code on track when the car is hot and can't make the boost it wants. So motivation to move to SimosTools is partially based on that and also that it's the vastly superior tuning solution. I uninstalled my Cobb AP from the ECU only and kept my EQT TCU tune on the car.

I basically copy pastad the tune from the ECU Tuning Basics.docx and for a first flash it looks pretty good based on logging last night. Main things to clean up are small boost overshoot at spool and reduce timing a bit to clean up knock retard. Worst KR over 6 WOT pulls was -3.4. Here's a datazap log - WOT 3rd into 4th for 3rd gear WOT continuing into 4th to ~6k RPM that I took during my trip to Mexico.

I've been addicted to Claude Code recently and over the past 3-4 days I built a python library that essentially does what TunerPro does, but programmatically so you can script a tune and produce modified .bin's that way instead of the manual process. I instructed Claude and it wrote all the code and I primarily used the Opus 4.8 model for the coding. I used this python tool to create the modified .bin after some back and forth getting it to understand how to implement the tuning basics guide. So my first tune and log here was created with that python library.

Now that the framework is in place I'm gonna keep playing around and add features. First is going to be analyzing logs and coming up with adjustments for wastegate, timing, etc. Plan is to make the tool open source and free on GitHub after some more testing and usage. Not sure if anyone has done something similar already, but it's been a fun learning process!
