Went through the auto wash, wiped down with ceramic detailer and swapped to my Blizzaks for the season.

Edit for the S5 update - got the APR Stage 1 tune and intercooler a few weeks ago. Intake was backordered but I’ll probably snag that for Black Friday.

Yes!

I've got to tell you, you have the best color combo in my opinion.
Thanks for saying that! I've always felt that silver and black goes great together. That's part of the reason why I had to have black crossbars (not OEM), a black cargo box, and black antennas where possible. Here's a look at the car a few months ago immediately after its ceramic coating was refreshed. You can see that the wheels are actually not black, but gunmetal grey.

Also an owner of a 17 sport. Imo, outside of the unicorn 2 door S with lighting and performance package, it's the best spec available.
Agreed! I was shopping for an "S" because I wanted the Plaid and no sunroof. The "Sport" announcement was a pleasant surprise. My daughter was a teen at the time and unaware that I was shopping for a car. She melted when she saw the Plaid! One would think that she was in the presence of a rock star, but she was looking at the seats instead of me. :ROFLMAO:

She's all grown up now and has a 2015 Golf Launch Edition with an IS20 swap. It's a two-door, so a bit of a unicorn, too. She has a set of Plaid seats that she'd like to adapt and fit at some point.

My MKV had leather and I was always jealous of the people that had the plaid. I also specifically went looking for an S when I was shopping. Everything about the Sport sounds similar to my S other than I do have fog lights but lack the Performance Pack and Carplay/Android Auto. But I do love not having a sunroof in this one haha.

Discovered/verified that my sunroof is leaking, thanks to this weekend's torrential downpour in San Diego.

Findings:
• Strictly the passenger sun visor/A-pillar area.
• Compressed the whole area with paper towels to absorb the majority of the moisture.
• I noticed a small bubble in the tape (that is the sunroof repair kit) and it was water, not air. Removed it and verified that it's cracked and moisture is wicking through the crack from beneath.
• There wasn't any difference in moisture between left and right (dried it before the picture)

Don't know where else the water could be getting in, as the sunroof sits flush against the foam rubber seal. Every other common leak area from headliner to carpet was checked and no moisture. This leads me to think it's not clogged drains and it's from the crack/tape.

Once it's dry, should I scuff it and throw a small bead of 2-part epoxy on it? Any insight would be appreciated, and even though I never use the sunroof, no, I'm not replacing the car with a sunroof-less car lol.

That sucks… Have you checked to see if your car is covered with the extended sunroof warranty?

I had the trim surround replaced earlier this year and was just beyond it. Owner of the dealership is a friend of mine so I was able to buy parts for a hefty discount though.

I have heard of people doing a sheet of ppf on the entire roof and sunroof, means you can't use the sunroof at all but should stop leaking theoretically

Yeah, no. I'm a little too neurotic for that type of fix 😆

Not to mention, short of colored PPF, vinyl wraps tend to photograph well but look like ass in person.

I think I'll grab some flex seal and line the whole tray inside. A few threads have demonstrated that it works. Worth a shot before dropping $3k to replace the whole assembly from the inside.
