You need mpi too.My 2017 GTI has 86K miles on it and an is38 w/93oct tune. I’m considering turning up the power by adding a LPFP and full E.
I would only do so if I felt confident in the health of the motor, so what would you do to best confirm that? Leak down, compression, and oil analysis? Anything else?
And a coat on the tires to make then easier to clean, especially the treadsCup 2's mounted and rims coated (both sides) in Carpro DLux. Going to do a second coat on the faces and hit the center caps as well.View attachment 316135
It's funny, I've never been an airride guy since I track everything they'll let me, but for a cheap daily it seems perfect. The lost cargo space has kept me from doing it every time. Not in that weather!
Just do airhelper springs inside the rear coils with a Schrader nipple in the hatch ! Old air shocks style (my 70 Camaro still had that setup on it when I first bought it in like 2006)
Car looks great. But we're the doors painted horizontally? It's funny, I've never been an airride guy since I track everything they'll let me, but for a cheap daily it seems perfect. The lost cargo space has kept me from doing it every time.
It hit 37F yesterday so I washed my GSW4Mo. (Didn't do the wheels going to remove them in the garage and clean up in the fender wells etc.) Drives great, but as with every car I've gotten bored with it. (250,000 miles in 2 Mk7s over 10 years ain't bad though!) The Mk7 platform is definitely the greatest VW platform since the Beetle, but to get to the next level or do what I want to with them requires more money and time than I feel like shelling out. Money that could fund a real nice aircooled VW, brass era racecar, or classic Mini. Being a car enthusiast is a never ending struggle.

Over Christmas/New Years I took two weeks to help my dad finish his 32.5 year restoration on his lowlight ghia, and that was the final nail in the modern VW coffin for me. I don't see myself owning any of these cars that long, and it was 500 times the experience to drive it.

Nice. I can tell the quality is there for sure. Some colors just reflect weird, for sure. I've watched body/paint guys on the tube talk about orientation of panels in metallic paints so I just jumped to that in my head.I'm assuming referring to the front right door to body break. It's weird lens illusion, but not something your eye can perceive. I do not believe the doors were ever removed. I know the decklid and hood were at various points, but were painted on the car. The undercarriage and cavities were painted while the body was on a rotisserie. It's a base clear vs the original single stage lacquer so it's possible something in the metallic reflects. May just have to hide that side from photographers with big lenses hah.
Originally lowlights used a pewter filler from Karmann so panels only fit individual bodies similar to the Tuckers. Getting perfect lines on them is a PITA.
And this is when I get slapped back to reality. If LPFP & HPFP isn't sufficient/ unreliable set up and then I do MPI, that's a hell of a lot of expense for 50HP.You need mpi too.

Those wheels look so good !!Car detailed, wheels on. Definitely going to get some spacers for at least the front. Time to math that out.

And some kind ethanol gauge& sensor, and personally would do upgraded PR fuel lines. You need mpi too.
I had a long conversation with jerseydrew about the real need for upgraded fuel lines....reach out to him if you think you really need them, unless you want them just cause. And yeah....sensor and gauge (unless simos has a way to read) are a definite. And some kind ethanol gauge& sensor, and personally would do upgraded PR fuel lines.
