The shop just called and said the car's done. But they mentioned that the new DP seems close to the plastic ABS shield and to look into getting maybe a metal replacement one. Has anyone else ran into this issue?
Your downpipe used or new? I ordered new and came with a stainless heat shield replacement.

It’s a used one. So I drove home and it drove fine. Just restarted to head out again and it threw a P2097 for “post cat sensor too rich”. Thoughts?

O2 either not reading correctly or needs to be corrected via tune

Ffs. Okay back to the shop first thing in the morning
When the downpipe cools, you could do this yourself. Twist the O2 sensor wiring to the left over and over again, then plug it into the spacer and screw it in.

Also used, so who knows how it was treated under prior ownership.

It's my old one, so... pretty mildly for a hair over 5000 miles, with the most action being the occasional highway on ramp 🤣

I'm surprised it didn't throw a code immediately...

On one hand, like @swcrow said, you might be able to screw it in yourself once it cools. On the other hand, if you paid a shop to install it, it should be done right without you having to fix it.
