What did you do to your mk7 today?

The shop just called and said the car's done. But they mentioned that the new DP seems close to the plastic ABS shield and to look into getting maybe a metal replacement one. Has anyone else ran into this issue?

It’s a used one. So I drove home and it drove fine. Just restarted to head out again and it threw a P2097 for “post cat sensor too rich”. Thoughts?

Yeah, it's a 200 cell cat. Not guaranteed to be code free. Also used, so who knows how it was treated under prior ownership.

When the downpipe cools, you could do this yourself. Twist the O2 sensor wiring to the left over and over again, then plug it into the spacer and screw it in.

Golf R? If so, yes. 400 cell GESI cat but not EPA rated. Got a CEL at 400ish miles. Straight spacer with largest port corrected CEL.

2019 Golf R. Does the spacer affect fuel trim or any negative effects?

I'm surprised it didn't throw a code immediately...

On one hand, like @swcrow said, you might be able to screw it in yourself once it cools. On the other hand, if you paid a shop to install it, it should be done right without you having to fix it.
