*sigh* any insight? M5 stainless ground bolt with a star washer anchored on the seat rail. Went through the whole loom before installing to clean, rewrap, and get rid of any wires for power seat functions. Retained seat belt, rail position, seat occupancy sensors.

Big car weekend!

Started with a wash, polish, and wax. Then did pads and rotors on all four corners plus a fluid flush (clutch too). I went with the tried and true Zimmerman rotors paired with iSWEEP IS2000 pads in the front and IS1500 in the rear. Fluid is Motul DOT5.1. This was my first time using the fancy uprated red aluminum Motive bleed adapter and it handed 30psi like a champ. I also greased the sway bar bushings and endlinks while the car was in the air.

I also finally got around to wiring up my fog lights. The BCM is a royal pain to access, easily the worst part of the retrofit. Fogs work well, the color temp is a little cooler than the headlights but it doesn't bother me too much.

Airbag igniter resistance too high... Did you leave something unplugged? Double check your connections, I'm not sure what connector this refers to but if you fiddled with the harness at all (depinning wires, etc) then I would say check that nothing has come loose along the way. At least it's on the passengers' side, so you know where to look. IIRC there's like three connectors there: the PODS sensor with the big black connector, there's a red one, and a yellow one that I believe is seatbelts. I'm 130% not confident but my guess is that the big red connector is the airbag connector, though that may only be for the seats themselves.

On my passenger side, I've got the 2 wire seat plug, yellow airbag plug, and black plug for the main harness. Only thing I can think is I didn't de-pin the wires for the power recline function, I just snipped them and terminated them. Everything that goes to the occupancy sensor is untouched – unless I missed something. ?

View attachment 311485View attachment 311486View attachment 311488I’ve been extremely torn lately and apparently out of the loop around here?

Apparently @Acadia18 bought a Mk8R and @swcrow hurt his engine (never went back one page at a time enough to get a clear picture of what’s going on in either situation).

So as for me being torn, my wife has been pestering me to buy a new Mk8 GTI because;

-She knows I want one

-She knows the 2024s on lots now are the last of the manuals

-30k for a new daily is “cheap” by todays standards

-she’s accepted I’ll never change lol

But I can’t stop looking at new Super Duty’s. All I’ve thought about the last six months or so is ordering a 2025 F250 XLT Tremor package. Having my 1996 F350 has spoiled me on having room for kids and stuff doing weekend chores, and with my typical weekend being longer than my typical work week the GTI has sat more often than not.

My current Mk7 & F350 (9 and 28 years old respectively) both have 145k miles.

I really don’t want to sell anything, nor do I need to, but she’s not very receptive of me buying a new anything and not selling something to make room for it.

So what would you nerds do? Keep my poverty spec 2016 GTI in all its poor mans track day/daily glory? Keep the pristine F350 time capsule / weekend ride / camper tow rig (we towed about 3,000 miles with it this year).

My brain is racing because three kids take 10x more time/money/energy than two kids somehow & I’m actively working towards spending less time working on stuff and more time just doing stuff with them. My current two vehicles are not exactly your common father of three top pick, so honestly without even intending to I drive my wife’s XC90 far more than either of them (which also annoys her).

As a note, I’m not interested in anything other than what’s listed at all. No SUV or half ton truck, no mini van. I should probably go to bed, but yeah. Wheels are turning.
I had a 2017 F250 - Crew cab, FX4 and XLT packages. It was my dream truck I wanted ever since high school. Mine was first year of the major makeover for the F250. This truck was my daily & everything vehicle, and I traded my 2013 BMW 335i in on it. I didnt want to trade because I loved that car but I had to for marital compliance lol. It was a great truck but not ideally agile as far as getting around as a daily, and sometime a large truck is a bonus, and sometimes a hindrance. I took the truck on a couple trips before ultimately trading it for my GTI in the fall of the same year (2017).

I think going either way would be a sensible move, but overall I would likely upgrade the vehicle that I drive the most. However.... with my GTI is it where I want it and I have too much done to it to just tear it all down back to stock. I want to leave it like it is and enjoy it!! I also have the Atlas and I bought my wife a 2017 Kia from my mom to use as a runabout/errand vehicle. In my scenario I would trade the Kia for the MK8. Your scenario overall with all things considered I would say follow your heart and go get the truck.

Well it's been a little while since I was in there, so I might not be completely accurate there. I assume that's the only code? It's rudimentary because I'm not smart with this sort of thing, but I would almost say it's worth clearing it, unplugging things one at a time, and seeing what changes as things are unplugged, so that at least you can get a starting point of what's wrong. I feel like maybe a wiring diagram would help so you can get a rough idea of what controls/talks to what and MAYBE even spec resistance (but I don't know how in-depth diagrams like that go, I tend to just google and make simple changes) but hopefully that gives you a place to start while we wait for someone smart to chime in.

Yes that's the only code I'm throwing between both seats and my steering wheel. My obd11 "expired" so I can't see any details further.

When I removed the oe passenger seat I was extremely careful with the plug/harness, as well as removing it from the seat and unwrapping it to remove unnecessary wires. I'm confused, but until I take a second look, I guess we're shooting blindly. Just wish it said specifically which plug it affected, so I know where to look lol. Luckily I have this afternoon free.

Igniter is on yellow connector. Wrong resistance most probably (or lack of connection). Best is to see in measured values what resistance airbag module is showing

Hmm... I wonder if I swap driver and passenger resistors and it follows, that'll be my first course of confirmation. Good to know! I wonder if driver and passenger require different ohm resistance?
