I’ve been extremely torn lately and apparently out of the loop around here?
Apparently
@Acadia18 bought a Mk8R and
@swcrow hurt his engine (never went back one page at a time enough to get a clear picture of what’s going on in either situation).
So as for me being torn, my wife has been pestering me to buy a new Mk8 GTI because;
-She knows I want one
-She knows the 2024s on lots now are the last of the manuals
-30k for a new daily is “cheap” by todays standards
-she’s accepted I’ll never change lol
But I can’t stop looking at new Super Duty’s. All I’ve thought about the last six months or so is ordering a 2025 F250 XLT Tremor package. Having my 1996 F350 has spoiled me on having room for kids and stuff doing weekend chores, and with my typical weekend being longer than my typical work week the GTI has sat more often than not.
My current Mk7 & F350 (9 and 28 years old respectively) both have 145k miles.
I really don’t want to sell anything, nor do I need to, but she’s not very receptive of me buying a new anything and not selling something to make room for it.
So what would you nerds do? Keep my poverty spec 2016 GTI in all its poor mans track day/daily glory? Keep the pristine F350 time capsule / weekend ride / camper tow rig (we towed about 3,000 miles with it this year).
My brain is racing because three kids take 10x more time/money/energy than two kids somehow & I’m actively working towards spending less time working on stuff and more time just doing stuff with them. My current two vehicles are not exactly your common father of three top pick, so honestly without even intending to I drive my wife’s XC90 far more than either of them (which also annoys her).
As a note, I’m not interested in anything other than what’s listed at all. No SUV or half ton truck, no mini van. I should probably go to bed, but yeah. Wheels are turning.
