Not a fan of this.

Granted I’m not an engineer, but minimum wall thickness for a structural mounting hole is definitely a thing.

There factory VW Motorsport TCR mounts the original rear holes overlap each other not visible with bolt in.

I questioned and had them confirm they were ok before we drilled the two forward hole, worse case they can reproduce me a set out of steel or alu with more material under the front wholes.

That's too thin. Wonder how the other side looks, but I wouldn't sign off on that..

Headed to my car after work and had a weird "chemical" smell. Started car, clutch did not come back up. Manually pumped it a couple times and still did not come back up. Looked underneath and noticed drippage. Was just reading about how the TOB can go bad. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu can't have my car down. Removed belly pan and followed the drip up. Removed intake and looked like the bleeder valve was wet. Co-worker was walking by and asked her to watch. Confirmed that it was bubbling out of the bleeder block. Will have to take *gasp* public transportation to school and work. Hopefully the local Audi dealership has 1J0721468E and I can pick up and replace at work.

Blue tape is for the SAI hose that now connects to nothing.

Wow what a crazy weekend. No, I did not get the CS Wing on. However, as he promised, my buddy from back home showed up yesterday early morning, so we moved to the bigger projects. Got the rear Hawk brake pads in, the fronts are not here yet so that will wait. Started the headlight swap and before too long, found that two of three headlight modules had water all around the connectors. One of them even leaked out all over the floor for a couple minutes. I got those two ordered and on the way immediately. Swapped over the modules from the "dry" passenger side assembly to the driver side and mounted it in place with just one bolt so that we could plug it up and test the headlight. The only light that worked was the LED DRL and still have the same AFS and low beam headlight errors on the dash (these were the 2 that had water). We did swap over the DRL module from the passenger side because the driver side was not working. I have to order that too and I will do that this morning. Now that the bumper is off I will work on getting the broken black piece in the lower bumper out so I can get the part number and order it. Also have to pull the fog lights out of bumper to clean and prep to go into new bumper once it is painted. The lower grill needs to be replaced so I will just get a new one.

Looks like you’ve been leaking something for awhile, aluminum transmissions cases shouldn’t have that yellow color to them.

Haven’t seen or driven my GTI in more than 3 weeks. However a ‘24 Tiguan SE is treating us well on our road trip through CA.

No that's from the original battery. Had white powdery substance on the tray and I washed it off. Guess that was a bad idea.

That's rad, if you get a chance hit up Big Sur. Also Monterey has a ton of really neat stuff and great small town vibe.

Thanks, Big Sur is on the list.

Best place to stay was Autocamp in Joshua Tree.

Broke it?

500 miles into breaking-in a new clutch so I decide to do a 2nd gear pull getting onto the highway. Get a lot of traction control intervention which was unusual, followed by a bunch of lights, an EPC, and limp mode. After pulling over, turning it off, turning it back on, turning off and back on again, it drives fine. No lights.

Got back on it again later but was maybe too scared, nothing logged so I assume I wasn't on the gas, only got to 11psi. Assume I wouldn't see that much boost if there was a blown coupler or something.

Cant' tell why though. Didn't overboost, didn't over rev, fuel pumps seem fine, no knock, but cylinder shutdown.

Same thing has happened to me twice over 85,000 miles. No explanation, either. I pulled over each time, shut it down and restarted and all was fine.

1400 miles, 30 hours and 8 states later VW #16 is home! I wish VW had given us FSI JSWs with 4Motion because man these BPYs are so much fun. The seating position, creature comforts and power delivery are much better in the Mk7, but there's something about FSIs that feels more playful and engaging. Now it's time to dig into my GSW4Mo for a suspension rebuild!
