Headed to my car after work and had a weird "chemical" smell. Started car, clutch did not come back up. Manually pumped it a couple times and still did not come back up. Looked underneath and noticed drippage. Was just reading about how the TOB can go bad. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu can't have my car down. Removed belly pan and followed the drip up. Removed intake and looked like the bleeder valve was wet. Co-worker was walking by and asked her to watch. Confirmed that it was bubbling out of the bleeder block. Will have to take *gasp* public transportation to school and work. Hopefully the local Audi dealership has 1J0721468E and I can pick up and replace at work.

Looks like you’ve been leaking something for awhile, aluminum transmissions cases shouldn’t have that yellow color to them.

Haven’t seen or driven my GTI in more than 3 weeks. However a ‘24 Tiguan SE is treating us well on our road trip through CA.

No that's from the original battery. Had white powdery substance on the tray and I washed it off. Guess that was a bad idea.

That's rad, if you get a chance hit up Big Sur. Also Monterey has a ton of really neat stuff and great small town vibe.

Thanks, Big Sur is on the list.

Best place to stay was Autocamp in Joshua Tree.

Broke it?

500 miles into breaking-in a new clutch so I decide to do a 2nd gear pull getting onto the highway. Get a lot of traction control intervention which was unusual, followed by a bunch of lights, an EPC, and limp mode. After pulling over, turning it off, turning it back on, turning off and back on again, it drives fine. No lights.

Got back on it again later but was maybe too scared, nothing logged so I assume I wasn't on the gas, only got to 11psi. Assume I wouldn't see that much boost if there was a blown coupler or something.

Cant' tell why though. Didn't overboost, didn't over rev, fuel pumps seem fine, no knock, but cylinder shutdown.

Same thing has happened to me twice over 85,000 miles. No explanation, either. I pulled over each time, shut it down and restarted and all was fine.

Replaced the fender which had only been dented for about 3 years, when my motorcycle fell off the jack overnight during a fork rebuild.

I bought a new fender for $160 shipped and had it painted for $200. Then it sat in my garage, mocking my laziness.

1400 miles, 30 hours and 8 states later VW #16 is home! I wish VW had given us FSI JSWs with 4Motion because man these BPYs are so much fun. The seating position, creature comforts and power delivery are much better in the Mk7, but there's something about FSIs that feels more playful and engaging. Now it's time to dig into my GSW4Mo for a suspension rebuild!
Congrats! I've always had a soft spot for MKVs, when I was a kid my neighbor's son bought one new when he graduated college and I thought it was the coolest thing. What are your plans for it?

(Back in Oct 2023) Changed the oil....

View attachment 293812

...found out my RMS is leaking? It was so little though... I think its only happening under boost, bc I have never seen a drop of oil where I park....

... I have also noticed a bit of "sweat" around the cam bridge cover....thats new, and it has always sweated around the oil cap...

It would also never consume oil, at least not enough to need to be refilled... this time I had to add ~0.7 QT in the 5k mi....

I guess Ill keep an eye on it.... hopefully I can do it all at once with the clutch, which is still holding Stage 2 great....

Almost 1 year later, it got worse and worse, to the point I had to add a 0.25QT per 1k mi, then over 0.5QT and this last 1k mi check, I didn't even make it before I got the low oil warning... so over a 1QT in 1k mi.

I got under it and the rear of the oil pan is completely wet with oil.... but still not a single drop on the driveway. I did dip my hands on the A/C condensation puddle and there was some oil mixed in, so maybe that was helping spread the oil and masking it.

Took it to my trusted mechanic... I thought maybe it was now the oil pan as well but nope, he diagnosed it as the upper timing cover / adjusters and the RMS... so its getting that work done, as well as the haldex might as well (has 59k mi)... and oil change...

My (OEM) clutch has 40k mi (i got it swapped when I bought the car) and even thought its been Stage 2 (a mild "low tq" protune by EQT), its been babied so hard and has held so well, I opted to stay with my clutch, hopefully I can get another 20k or 40k mi more out of it...

Well the GTI's still up on jack stands, waiting for the last headlight module to show up so I can continue the swap. Hopefully that shows up today because I only have this weekend to finish stuff before scheduled car show/event stuff starts clicking. I might have some time next weekend but I really need to get on the ball. Tomorrow morning I am starting early.

Finish headlight swap
Get the Hawk front pads in (rears already done last weekend)
Raise the front coilovers a 1/2 inch
Disassemble old front bumper, get part number from lower black insert and lower grille and order replacements. Pull splitter off and re-paint, pull fog lights.
Pull old rear diffuser off, the new one ships tomorrow finally (supposedly)
Mount the new rear wing
Paint new front bumper

*seriously doubt I will get all of that done, but going to take a big swing at it. Really miss driving my GTI all the time.

Special Note: me and buddy bled the brake system after getting the Hawk rear pads in this past Sunday. Their was a fair amount of air in the lines for some reason. The pedal feels better but I have yet to drive it.
