Hell I miss the days when I bought birch or maple capped plywood for that much.

MDF is denser than plywood, which is why it is preferred. Definitely easier to work with as well. I have not seen an IB system since the late 80's...
That’s just cause you haven’t looked lol. Sq comp. Cars are predominately IB. Also pretty good chance majority of those 80s ones you refer were actually (leaky) trunk baffles more than IB. Either way for even my simple check box of “big ass subs” in the GTI and not having a tall box I have no choice but to go IB as even sealed will be plenty big.

Mostly, isolated between the trunk and cab, but massive leaks out the trunk lid, etc... once small box sealed subs started rolling out almost everyone I knew that did installs moved away from IB and ported subs. There were a few ported systems being built, but I think around 75% were sealed. Once I joined back active duty with the Army in '98 I lost track of it all. I still follow a few channels on YT to see what's going on but not as before.

Started her up for the first time in 5 weeks. Took several cranks before she fired up. I need to get a battery tender for when I’m on the road. Going to wash her this afternoon.
The Noco Genius 2 has been my go-to for cars I care about. I also have a dirt cheap Harbor Freight one that I use for stuff with a basic battery that works fine.

Sprayed the clear coat on the wing last night. Also recruited a friend from back home to come help with my laundry list of to-do's on the GTI. I missed a big car show this past weekend with my friends from back home, because my car wasnt ready to go. This didnt sit well with me so one of my buddies is going to start coming down every weekend until everything is done.

Coilover adjustment- planning to raise about 1/2- 3/4 inch
Headlight swap
Front bumper swap
brake pad change and fluid bleed (this may fix the pedal slack-dead area, doing this first before spending big money at the Euro shop)
Boost tap - relocating from where the MAP sensor is as it was fu%^$ing with the ambient air reading, and because I miss the boost gauge working.
Boost gauge swap- either doing a Defi or considering a Vektor
harness bar install
harness install
front splitter install on new bumper
Cobb Redline CF Intake - replacing the existing Cobb unit because it does not work size-wise with the cf battery tray
Adjust exhaust tip alignment
install the new Maxton CS rear wing (finally)
install new rear diffuser
CF hood re-clear
CF fenders re-clear
Wheels curb rash repair
Door card inserts- recovering in red alcantara to match the Recaro's (likely a longer project as I already know on the backside the inserts have like plastic rivets?)

I might consider these, problem is I have my heart set on KW Clubsport's.
If you haven't made a move yet, I'll let you know. Moving from B14s to KW V3, the Bilsteins were decent on track but I think the KWs will be significantly more performant.

Yea I have a buddy here on ST XTA's, and his rides so much better than mine it pisses me off lol. I can only imagine KW's being even better. Currently the KW's are sitting in my cart. I'm taking care of other stuff before I drop $4k.

Can verify, I have XAs (no camber plates up top) and they're fantastic. I'm very much a fan. My plan overall is to get Eurosport mounts up top, I don't want pillowball shit that needs to be maintained and kept clean and all that. The KWs in the screenshot though with the remote reservoir and everything, that's some next level shit. Probably worth the money, but I don't need $4000 coilovers on my street car.

Well I may be missing something, but when I pull the BC's out I will need units that have upper plates/pillowballs. So with that in mind I am looking at the ST XTA's or the KW's that already have that. I can justify the KW's as it will return to being my daily soon and some of the roads here are shit, and definitely most of the roads back home are. I need a coilover that can handle all of that, and also let me dial in/adjust for track day when I start doing that. My BC's took 60k miles or so of harsh abuse so far. I'm going to turn them to a softer settings this weekend and see what they feel like. I have always run them on the firmer side.
