What did you do to your mk7 today?

Installed Aliexpress carbon mirror caps and smoked mirror turn signals. Also had aspherical mirrors to install, but looks like the stock 2020 Autobahn actually has this from the factory on the driver's side, so i'll be putting the Aliexpress ones up for sale for cheap.

Headrests!

Went with A3 front head rests. These are from the comfort package or something, so they have height plus fore/aft adjustment. Super cheap if you don't care about the stitching possibly not matching.

Conveniently also the B8 A5/S5 rear headrests are low profile and fit perfectly-ish. I can't remember if the OEM euro rears have two detents for height adjustment, these only have one. So they sit a bit low if you're on the taller side, but I have passengers never so I'll take the visibility improvements. I suspect the rear seat back on the A5/S5 is just taller in general so the overall total height with the one detent in the B8 is more than in the mk7.

Over the weekend I wired up the 3Q0 lane departure camera. All in all it wasn't too bad; grounds spliced into the dome light assembly wiring, then run along the headliner and down the A pillar to the wiring harnesses near the dead pedal, and finally the last set of wires out through the firewall to the engine bay and into the grill ACC radar. Massive thanks to @Cuzoe for helping me catch a fuse-related oversight that fixed the whole project. Now just coding to do and we should be off to the races! Not bad for a car that only came with forward collision assist from the factory (added ACC a couple summers ago.)

I really dont have any issues with the functionality of it for my non climatronics setup??‍♂️ it does a lot of talking to the headunit to probably cause they speak the same language…. When I do stuff to the ac controls it jumps to the head screen controls and mirrors it all.

My issue is the same issue I had with the China bezel for the radio actually! They don’t have the same piano black color.

Also now I really need a digital dash ?

Found that annoying suspension rattle.
Was confused because I just installed the aluminum front subframe and front swaybar (excellent mod btw) then the rattle began, so multiple times I tightened every bolt on the subframe and suspension, but didn't fix it. Ended up being the passenger lower ball joint. No movement, all tight when doing my checks, but under compression over little bumps...rattle, rattle, rattle. All good now.

Do you now have automatic climate control functionality with this or does it still just work like the basic non climatronic setup?

Regular, it does have a harness and prob kit in the box so maybe that’s what you need to make its automatic (single zone) but I didn’t test it.

Ah, I know there's some coding involved too but that's neat it still works as regular.

I need to retrofit single zone in mine in a bad way, I feel like I'm adjusting it 24/7 haha

Indeed it does have the harness and couple sensor needed for the half-Climatronic retrofit... described in this thread.
- It will leave you with several faults (which I suppose you'll never see since the AliExpress module doesn't show up in diagnostics, haha).
- If using a factory Climatronic panel (but with this same half retrofit harness) you also have lots of problems with airflow direction.
---Manual HVAC can send air to two out of three (feet, face, defrost vents) places at once , while Climatronic can direct to all three individually

Late in the thread I did a more thorough (single zone) climatronic retrofit; adding the sunlight sensor, external air quality/humidity sensor, a motor for the defrost door, motor for passenger side temp (electrically connected and mounted, though the manual HVAC box does not have the internal door to change temp on that side separately), and replacing the air intake box (above/forward of the glove box). A couple motors had to be changed, and wiring added.

Blah blah blah... you can skip all that and just do what was talked about early in the thread to get automatic temp and fan speed control. You will not, however, have good control of air direction. And you the recirc/fresh air flap won't work 100% but it will be close enough.

Pretty sure something is stuck with the current recirculation door already on mine. If I click (on the regular one before I put this screen on last night) the recirc to cycle Internal only air the chilled air won’t get to my vents and it’s only sill hot air. Once I turn it off to get outside air it’s back to very comfortable AC

I don't know what you've got going on, haha. Recirc should just open/close the door that's "above" the blower fan in the glove box. If you pull the filter you can see it back there.

You could pull the filter and have a look back there while pressing the button. Go to about 1:25 in the video to see what you should be seeing.

Replaced a failing diverter valve. Upgraded to the newest revision. So a little back story: I kept getting an epc light while causally cruising, it was for turbo boost. I replaced the is20 wastegate with the is38, it still occurred, did some live data tracking, wastegate was preforming perfectly. Tracked the fail point to the turbo diverter, it would fail at the moment the boost dropped while in 6th gear, so if I was cruising at 75 and drove up a hill, the cruise control would increase boost to maintain 75. At the top of the hill when ot leveled off the excess boost would divert but it would fail, throw the epc light and fail cruise control. So I went from "c" to "j", noticeable diffence in the valves tension. "C" was super soft and springy, "j " has less spring.
