Mine has always made an awful sound turning at low speed/parked; I always just assumed it was the chassis while braked and/or tire noise. This similar?
Nice, I think I have been to one Cars & Coffee this year, and no shows. Trying to make 2 big shows next month but time to get stuff corrected vs money to pay a shop to do it is sketch at the moment. My first time bringing one of my own cars to a Cars & Coffee (at Tree house Brewing in Charlton, MA). Great event, great cars & great beer.
We went to a couple at Steel Stacks even though it's a hike, and have gone to a couple locally. It's not really my scene, lots of expensive shit that just sits parked, be it in a climate controlled facility or at a show. At least at Newport Car Museum there's enough stuff that wouldn't otherwise see the light of day to make it worthwhile. Lots of the C&C stuff around me is stancey stuff and exotics, so nothing I own really garners any attention. A friend's org is doing a fundraiser show though on Sunday, so we might bring the VW for that since it's less wild stuff. After selling my ‘29 Ford, I’ve fallen off the C&C map
Yeah our C&C around here is actually awesome. Sure we see a Ferrari or Lamborghini that never sees a road, but other than that, we see some legit builds, classic cars, hot rods, skylines, and everything in between. We went to a couple at Steel Stacks even though it's a hike, and have gone to a couple locally. My money is on a bad bushing in the LCA, probably the rear one. I put in all new hardware; mount, bearing, bump stop, nuts, bolts, etc. so unless I coincidentally installed a new faulty bearing on the driver's side, which not impossible, it likely is the LCA that's making the noise.
Could be, but what caught my attention was the low speed/parked turning, which indicated something rotational - makes sense why he'd think steering rack. I suppose a rack could squeak from one side, though I don't understand the system well enough to make rule it out. I can imagine the LCA bushing squeak over speed bumps/dips/impacts, but not soft deflection from static turning. Who knows, maybe it's a bolt that just needs torquing down.

The part number, for anyone interested... 5JA 061 107 9B9.When your obsession with oem+ extends to garbage cans (gonna get a black bag)
I might consider these, problem is I have my heart set on KW Clubsport's.Not so much me, but got the Bilstein B14's in & 034 camber mounts rebuilt. Mechanic showed me my old shocks. They had no rebound at all left. Bearings were almost frozen too.
Holy cow, the control of the B14's over bumps is night and day & no clunking or bottoming out, since front spring rate is almost double 400 vs 210.
It's so smooth now.
Told him to put it as high as possible since I'm not about the low life so front is just under 26 & rear is just above 26. It'll settle so I'll probably end up at 25.5 & 25.8 like my old setup
