Did a big clean after back-to-back road trips - wash/clay/polish/sealant plus an interior detail with the upholstery extractor. It was tough working around the intense sun but managed to get it all done. The plastic trim needs a little love (any product recommendations?) but otherwise the car is cleaner than it's been in a long time.

Love those wheels, still miss the ones I had. My car being RS though they looked to OEM and on numerous occasions at car shows was accused of having OEM wheels (despite the BBS logo being blatantly obvious) :(. Guess I should care less about what others think and just run what I like. For plastic trim I use this stuff:

-It is not overly shiny and protects well and restores light fades. For heavier faded trim, look into something like a specific trim restore product. I use Meguairs products for stuff like that.

Got the CS wing sanded again and ready for another spray. Holy cow this thing is taking so long to do, life crap has me running in circles. Work crap, side hustle crap, a good buddy from my circle of car friends smacks a wall and dies, wife gets diagnosed with diabetes- just non stop I can't seem to get GTI stuff done in any kind of timely fashion. Sorry for the wait but I think it will be worth it.

I’m so sorry…..to lose a friend is heartbreaking and takes its toll in so many ways. Make sure you pay attention to yourself and allow yourself to grieve.

And then to hear of that diagnosis for your wife… never fun but it can definitely be managed and hopefully with good results. Sometimes the diagnosis actually helps with knowing how to address things properly.

GTI is last on that list bro…..

Thank you man, and true that. I just kinda feel like a slacker sometimes and car show season already in full swing. My biggest downfall is garage space, I NEED a bigger garage so friggin bad. At least that way I could get the GTI on jack stands and work a little at a time and not worry about the weather. The wife and I are working on that but tbh, the market sucks right now. We are shooting for a Thanksgiving timeframe.

Finally got my SM-10s and new tires installed earlier today. So much better than my curbed & bent to shit OEM wheels, and don't need spacers to clear the brakes anymore. Now for a good cleaning & detailing...

I installed a set of AliExpress magnetic switch paddle shifters.

The installation was easy: pull the airbag and steering wheel trip off. Remove 2 screws holding the stock paddle shifter brackets on, remove factory brackets, install magnetic ones, and then put everything back together the way it came apart.

It moves the paddles a little further away from the driver, which is fine for me, but people with smaller hands may have issues. The paddles are much more mechanical feeling and require a little more effort to pull (but not bad at all).

Here are the ones I got

Went to Big Island Auto Club's annual night drags. Always fun racing under the lights. Something is still wrong as I can only manage 2.0 second 60 foots but the car was running within two tenths of a second all night long! Officially working with Tunezilla on a custom tune now. Hopefully going to reset that 1.8T IS38 record!

Semi-related but is there a VCDS change to make the cluster lights come on with the light switch on parking? They require parking lights only in the return lane. (So you don't blind racers/etc.) I simply can't see anything on the cluster it's so dark lol.

From drag strip to camping- flexing the wagon practicality, love it!

Where was that camping spot? looks gorgeous!
