No time to brake when I never lift off...

YEEAAAHHHHHH

Pretty much whenever it doesn't inconvenience other drivers. 45 to 20mph in 3rd, then ride 2nd down to 7mph. That, and I mostly drive highway / rural miles. No real suburbs around these parts

I have no experience with 034 parts personally but I feel I hear their name come up often in regards to poor parts.
Yeah, I’ve heard mixed things overall but have personally had good experience with their engine/trans/pendulum mounts.

To be fair, the failed shock mounts were 4 years old with 60k+ miles on them (lowered on fairly stiff Racing Line dampers). Only replaced them with 034 again because of FCP’s free replacement policy. Hoping the revised rubber design vs poly is a good indicator for better longevity. Otherwise, back to OE we go in due time lol.

Drove it to work and probably tomorrow since the wifes Kia is back in the shop for some repairs that were missed from the wreck. She gets the Atlas of course. After work tomorrow the GTI is finally going up on jackstands to start work on multiple projects.

Yesterday. Took advantage of the gloomy marine layer and did a much needed interior cleanup (on top of a thorough exterior detail). I have a handheld blower that I use for getting water out of all the seams, and realized that it also makes vacuuming the interior 90% less work. It's like a poor man's tornador, since I don't have compressed air.

Installed an ECS rear diffuser. I’d give it an 8 out of 10. Super easy to install but fitment could be a touch better.

I have one of these on order with them, super delayed though. At least I know now it will look tons better than the Strafe Design.

I'm still waiting on my Aerofabb one from their Easter sale :( Emailed them and I guess it's hung up in powdercoating? no offer for shirt/stickers either

but I'm excited about the look AND matching the front splitter. I might just spring for the sideskirts too, though they seem kind of silly since they're basically just a flat piece.

that sucks. From Thanksgiving to Easter sale, he better use those data points to plan for more materials for next "sale".

I thought I wouldn't notice the sideskirts because there's no way they could really stand out that much......pics don't do them justice....they really do stand out in person. I def recommend

I want the front splitter, but not on air anymore and my driveway angle says "nope nope"

Yeah, I'm looking at ways to improve our driveway angle (it's just stone thankfully) because the CX5 is the only one that doesn't scrape if you're not perfectly aligned coming into the driveway.

I should buy a bobcat.

powdercoating?

Isn't it made of plastic? WTF are they powdercoating?

From their own site on the sideskirts:

"
Hidden behind their photos
Its all in the details up close... Don't be fooled by inferior COPIES on the market made from lesser materials like aluminum which requires inconsistent paint or powder coating that WILL crease and chip, or even low grade plastics with subpar surface textures and edge finishes. Nothing beats the original!

Don't get it twisted, literally...

There's a reason we don't use metal! Pure Aluminum and/or Aluminum Composite panels, also known as ACM "Sign Making Material" (Polymetal, Alubond, Dibond, Alumilite, etc). What happens to metal when it bends? What happens to painted or powder coated surfaces when it comes in contact with road debris or if you happen to scrape the roads surface? It twists, creases, or chips under stress and worst of all, it stays like that. Save that wavy bacon for your plate at breakfast!

Side Splitter Construction
The aerofabb® Street Edition Side Splitters are constructed from a durable, U.S. Made, High-Impact Plastic and come in a lightly textured Matte Black Finish. This is the same material we use for our Street Edition Front Splitters! Every set of aerofabb® Side Splitters includes a factory installed logo badge. We then take it a step further by creating a recessed pocket for the badge to mount."

In my case it's the rear diffuser, so that might be different construction. Tbh I might still get the side skirts :x

edit: alright so the rear diffuser is indeed aluminum, so that explains that. I may reach out again a bit later to see where we're at. And I remember why I was on the fence about the side skirts now, you can't run them with the factory splash guards :(
