I got impatient last night so I set up my sawhorses and made a make-shift painting area in the garage. Laid a light coat of black on the wing and side pieces. Definitely going to have to re-sand, got some textured looking areas about the size of a golf ball in 4 spots. The sides look decent. Might try some filler primer tonight before sanding.

Just noticed your signature, are you looking for part #3? (5GM-805-915-A-9B9)
For vents with fogs, part numbers are in this list.

So I went to a little pop up meet with some locals last night, despite my OEM rear wing being gone lol. I am noticing more and more that I think my BC coilovers are possibly done. They have around 60k miles on them and even the slightest road imperfection hits hard and resonates through the entire cabin. I started last night researching which KW setup would include the mounting plates. It seems info varies between retailers as well as pictures of product of which version has this or that. I have Koni SA's to install at the rear but my problem is up front. If anyone has a part# that would be great. I read somewhere there is like a $2500 version that has mounting plates.

You know I never even considered those. They look to be in between ST's and KW's from a price standpoint. The bigger question is which ones have longevity? I don't want to be buying coilovers again in another 60k miles.

I've heard ~50k is generally the actual lifetime of most struts, AFAIK. Difference is, lots of people drive on failed/failing struts and don't know it for ages.

e: not that I know anything good or bad RE: Fortune. I know I've heard lots of good things about RedShift for motorsports use, but know nothing about them for street. My ST suggestion is one based on street car and aesthetic, with decent road handling in mind -- not track car, not show car, just inexpensive fun (I'm on a semi budget lol)

I think the sitting for a good while and then that one quick hit on a short drive blew one of the fronts, because it definitely started riding way worse than the last time I drove, and it was still smooth then. It's not a bent rim either because I went and jumped on the highway and where the pavement is smooth it was fine and solid, no vibrations anywhere, so I am fairly certain we are just dealing with poor suspension hardware here.

FA recommends rebuild at 60k based on usage. They rebuild them on site…. I’ve toured the factory as it’s local to me here in VA (and no I don’t work for them lol). Their R&D and benches are legit.

Changed the battery on my MK7 from advanced auto parts battery to a battery from a VW dealer. Car has been sitting for weeks. Cranks where getting slower and slower til the battery gave out.

fyi I did have an intermittent issue where the car wouldn’t want to crank crank crank and not start sometimes on a warm engine then crank after trying multiple times. With the new battery my car starts SUPER SMOOTH and quick! Time will tell if it will continue doing a slow crank on warm engine but hardly doubt it.

Btw I have a steel Rein oil pan that’s leaking.

Can anyone tell me what year tiguan has the same oil pan gasket as our cars?

I can’t recall if its 2012 before I make the purchase at a local auto parts store. Then I read about ppl saying the tiguan oil pan gasket fits the mk6 oil pan but I have an oil pan that I bought from FCP euro for my mk7 which throws me tf off.

I'm not one to gate keep and now that I've picked them up, I'm happy to share this.

I got a smoking deal on some MPS4's by price matching at NTB/Mavis Tire; I paid $178.18 per tire for 235/40/18's by price matching from this site... Discount Tire/Tire Rack immediately shot it down. It's definitely a Europe based seller, but they show the price in dollars and NTB had no problem doing it. If I were to actually buy them from ML Performance, it was $490 in shipping to get them to me lol.

NTB/Mavis does all of their price matching through their corporate office. There's a form on the website and I got a call the next day confirming everything was set and I picked them up three days later.

Decided to test out my Mickey Thompson slicks last night with a 3rd gear WOT, 4th gear WOT, and then 1st - 6th pull and holy shit these slicks have amazing grip! Zero tire spin and it was a bit scary at first to see how fast my car really is when it doesn't have any tire spin. Now I can have my tune finally finished because it's only at 36psi when it can go up to 45 - 48psi. I should have put these slicks on a long time ago.

Installed the Milltek 3" turbo back system (unresonated). Definitely notice much smoother pull with MUCH less (almost unnoticable) turbo lag. More grunt for sure but the smoothness of the acceleration is deceiving. A bit more vibration under hard acceleration. No drone (yay), and no CEL (double yay). Sounds nice :)

Busy month. Ran into a tire wall at autocross with my wagon. Luckily only the bumper and fender liners were damaged. I managed to redeem myself by setting the time of the day during the afternoon heat! My front bumper is now held together by hopes, dreams and a lot of zip ties til I can justify shipping a replacement. Went to Kauai for a few days, and pictures don't do it justice. What was really cool to me were the remnants of Kauai's two railroads. Both were 30" (2'6") narrow gauge and the locomotives only weighed 20-30 tons. As a result they had very unique solutions for trackwork and bridges. My Mk4 TDI finally got an ATF change and now it shifts silky smooth. Going to be a sad day when it leaves for Oahu. And last but not least Tunezilla surprised me with an updated TCU tune for the Golf R DSG in my wagon. I now have a 4k launch, correct reverse gear ratio, and some minor tweaks. I cannot wait for autocross Sunday. I may have a Tunezilla ECU tune by then as well!
Did you ever get the Tunezilla ECU tune yet? Im looking into switching from Unitronic because they don't offer 91 octane tune for the higher stages for my ECU. Tunezilla does for the most part. Just need to open a ticket to get it done. Uni isnt supporting the 1.8t anymore.
