I sure hope not. Not sure why people want to be cheap about their brakes.
It all depends. Inexpensive and cheap aren't the same thing. I'm following a guy that has been running fake Brembo 6 pots on a BMW 335 for the last year. He has the same Brembos on his M3 and he's been comparing wear, hardware, seals, etc... and has seen zero difference in wear or performance over the last year.

They are complete rip offs, down to brembo markings in the castings being present.

It's possible you can sell stuff less expensively with forced labor and completely stealing IP. 🤷‍♂️

IMO the Macan swap is a valid and budget friendly upgrade. Why cheap out with crap when you can get real stuff at a fair price? I think all my stuff was a tick under $1k ?

And all my stuff was under half of that...

A far cry from when I spent like $1600 on my Macan swap on my GTI 3 years ago 🤣

But to be fair, that's an inflated number for a Macan swap as it includes the cost of powdercoating, along with matching rear pads and rotors.

Yea mine was all in, lines, pads, paintwork etc. I think that mod on my spreadsheet says $942 total.

If I can get a AP 6 pot rip off and use mk8 R rotors for the same price, I'm doing that.

It appears these factories are legit and turning out similar qualities for a third the price.

Being original is expensive. Think of it as taking generic medications. Lol.

Donuts guys are track trading Dickass brakes and they work better and are holding up the same as the the Brembo kit they use on their other WRX.

A lot of parts in new cars and at parts stores are coming from China. VW, BMW, Land Rover, and many others are having new and replacement parts built in China.

I think the key is vetting the manufacturer.

You mean like I did, to the extent a consumer on the opposite side of the world can do, which you proceed to shit all over ad nauseam?

Finally did spark plugs and belt replacement on the Alltrack today for 60K service, some 1500 miles late. All outgoing parts look good though, and both were even easier than expected.
