Have so much suspension work to do to the gti but haven't found any time. Hopefully in a few weeks. Probably gonna slap the is20 on the 1.8 as well. Not sure about the slushbox though.

Every time I think of replacing my daily the thought of taking this path and getting a 1.8T that I can throw on goodies pulled off the GTI comes to mind haha

The 1.8 was... an accident. We had a GLC43, that I adored, and it got stolen. Right around the same time, my sister was graduating from University, and I bought her the 1.8 as a graduation gift. She then met her boyfriend and left the country; so I just took the 1.8 back. We were looking at another SUV but the two MK7's are sufficient for now. I haven't fucked around with the 1.8 all that much, as the GTI keeps me busy. But whenever I go into the crawl space and see the IS20 I pulled off the GTI, I smirk. My only limitation is that the 1.8 is a slush box and I'm not sure how that transmission would handle it.

haha as accidents go not a bad one! That sucks about the GLC though, I'd almost rather my car get totaled than stolen.

I can't remember the last time I saw someone really dig into modding Tiptronic so I have no clue how that would go, you could always limit torque with the tune though I suppose. Incidentally my sister (who's also in Uni) has a white 1.8, I tried convincing her it needed at least a tune but by her own admission she doesn't need any more power haha.

I'm in the exact same boat, been thinking about this for the past couple weeks. Think I need to fully price out all of the details of a Macan swap and go from there.
