I want one looking at the euro code one since I transport my bikes in the hatch a lot and I need the space. How is it?

I live in Jacksonville but in Wilmington frequently. What part of NC are you in?
Not that I really seek out wrench turning or transmission rebuilds, but I’ve got some experience after my transmission debacle.
-I’d highly recommend a proper differential while you’re at it, I did a WaveTrac because I got it used from a forum member here, but Peloquin would’ve been my first choice since they’re made a few hours away in Georgia.
-There are TONS of variations of 02Q transmissions & the year of your car doesn’t necessarily mean anything because they phased out older revisions of parts as they ran out of them.
-Junkyards DONT know anything about these different types/revisions
-Upgraded shift fork sliders are recommended while you’re in there, but as mentioned above there’re several variations and you won’t know till it’s opened up.
I agree with the above statement it’s far cheaper to buy a used transmission than fix what you’ve got. I kinda did both and bought a junkyard transmission, drove a hour to pick it up just to find out they dropped it and broke the cases…figured I’d steal the input shaft out of it since that’s what mine needed, and ended up not using it at all either (different ratio than my transmission even though both cars are 2016 MY). Also different shift forks, and cases.
So anyway, long story short, I probably have a full set of gears for your broken transmission. As long as your cases are still good, you could potentially have a cheap fix putting my used (3,400 mile) gear set in your transmission, with a nice upgrade if you do a diff, latest revision steel shift forks, and matching bronze sliders.

I bought a transmission from eBay yesterday, so I was planning on swapping them out. I’d be more than happy to learn from you because I’ve never worked on a transmission before. I’m a helicopter mechanic and am comfortable turning wrenches, so if I can help you with anything just let me know.
If Jake is offering to help turn wrenches, take him up on the offer.
I’m down in Wilmington and the only other forum member in the area. At least active members. If you’re ever in town and want to hang or work on anything let me know.I live in Jacksonville but in Wilmington frequently.

@GTI Jake is Your guy for trans rebuilds as he literally just did this.
It's pretty good, nice bump in power. My buddy has it on his. Finally got IE Stage 1 and TCU ordered. Can't wait to get it installed.
That's what I've heard and I'm hoping for. I don't have the need or want for huge power. It's a daily and I'm old so a little bump should do the trick. And hopefully the TCU tune will help with the DSG shift points and general drivability. I hate going into a turn and being in 4th gear and having to wait for the transmission to catch up.It's pretty good, nice bump in power. My buddy has it on his.
I think you will be impressed. What part of Texas are you? That's what I've heard and I'm hoping for. I don't have the need or want for huge power.
