i Can’t tell in the picture, do you run studded tires in winter?
Regular winter tires. Studded tires aren’t allowed in Germany.

I can see why. Years ago had the chance to drive a studded vs regular winter tire on an enclosed snow test track in Austria. Amazing, until there’s no snow… So far never had to use chains on a fwd car while going to the alps. I do a have a set of chains in the trunk just in case. Some roads in Austria/Italy are limited to awd or chains only from time to time.
Finland is where I have spent the majority of my time in the EU. Lots of cars with studded tires still on when I get there in late April.

I feel dirty. This was my first non Motul oil change since I bought the car. Sadly no Motul dealers over here. At least I have something else to blame a potential engine failure on lol.

Malone/Tunezilla custom trans tune is also flashed and feeling great. Will be switching to their ECU and Haldex tunes in the very near future. I am very stoked, it's exponentially quicker than ever! I cannot wait for Auto-X Sunday in my GSW4Mo!

Which motul were you running? Most of the VW-approved, non-ester oils are honestly on par with Mobil 1 or Castrol, so I don't think that's a big downgrade.

8100 X-cess. All my buddies with track prepped VWs run it as well. One guy tried the 300v but had oil temp issues.

With the Castrol and Liqui-Moly MoS2 my oil temps are up 10-20 degrees on my commute to work and up 20-25 while towing my ~350lb trailer despite lower ambient temps. So long as I don't see 270+ at auto-x everything will be ok!

Threw this HPA catted downpipe on today. Love it. Sounds amazing with the stock catback and vibrant res. Beautifully constructed. I already had a Billy Boat catted downpipe, but ive been wanting something that reduced the smell a little better than the 200 cell on it, and I saw this new ceramic coated 300 cell one on ebay for too good of a deal ;)

I cannot contain my excitement, thanks to the new trans tune I finally squeaked out a fastest overall time! 47.321 with second place being a 47.8XX. I averaged the fastest times all day long and ran a 47.123 during fun runs. It had a 46 in it, but I accidentally upshifted when I meant to downshift. I'll likely be 5th or 6th after pax, but that's ok. Not bad for a full weight wagon!

what paint did you use? I need to paint a cover for the front tow hook. I was looking at the duplicolor since they have a paint match for LY3D (Tornado Red), and some 2k Clear coat
Here are the paints I used. I would have used a 2k clear but I couldn’t get it local, and it was such a small project I didn’t want to waste it.

Since the paint was covered by the license plate cover it never faded so it matches really well.
