I just got mine back from the wheel guy - she’s had her alloys powder coated (not diamond cutting them again, ever) and her brakes painted.

I was SPEECHLESS when I saw it - I was genuinely terrified of how this could look when it was done!

If you’re in Scotland and want a recommendation, drop me a line and I’ll give you their details.

Loving the powder coating of your nogaro wheels. What colour are those? I need to get my nogaro's done. Kerbed the sh*t out of them 😬😂

Quick n' dirty pic but I just got my boy back from the shop after having these new wheels put on and I am in L O V E  Superspeed RF03RR 18x8.5 in matte black, truly NSFW
Just wish I could've gotten new tires to go with it, but I'm gonna wait out this rubber shortage before I get my hands on a set of Michelin PS4AS 235's

Those are nice.

Wheels are pretty much the only mod I can think to do any more, and only if I go light enough so it doesn't count as "cosmetic", which I have held fast against so far.

Maybe when it's time for new tires, so I can just do everything all at once and maybe even then run a wider size... Current tires should be worn out in just 20+ months.

It doesn't take much to be significantly lighter than most of the wheels that came in the GTI.

I've been looking around for a new set of wheels but one concern I have is that the lighter wheels are just going to spin even harder than ever, especially in 2nd. Is that true or am I overthinking it?

I think you're overthinking it...by that logic, you'd want to run crazy heavy Rotiforms or 1552 wheels. Power to wheels and keeping wheels from spinning is not specifically related to heavy vs. light wheels, but suspension and rubber.

I doubt you'd be able to really tell if it's easier to spin them in second or not. You will notice slight improvements elsewhere, but that's limited by the lost weight being so close to the center of rotation.

It will ride better though.

Thanks! These Superspeeds are right around 18 pounds, so it's a wonderfully lightweight wheel. They temporarily come in satin bronze and white as well; they were a 2020 release that you can still get but I'm not sure for how much longer. They really hit the sweet spot for me in the form + function combo; I love that the width also gives a just-right flush look without spacers, though I could probably get away with putting some 5mm spacers on the rears for an ultra-flush look if I so cared to.

Which engine cover is that?
That's the Tiguan engine cover. I added the red TSI logo myself. I put the part numbers down below for anyone who is interested in it.

Went through the pain in the ass process if swapping my downpipe and exhaust back to stock so I can achieve emissions readiness and pass inspection.

Why did you do the cat back to though?

My AWE has one of Jakes resonated mid-pipes. It's a bit longer than normal, and I cut the welded on reducer off my MAP downpipe, to keep is a full 3". So it creates an issue where the OEM downpipe and the mid-pipe are too long to pair to each other.

Believe me, I tried to avoid swapping the cat back :(
