Swapped from the plastic to a steel oil pan for a totally functional reason. My OCRs have me parking and driving on cow farms and 4x4 areas with no regard to the roads or “parking areas”. Bottomed out already and not going to take that chance again.

She sitting at 45,000 mi, beautifully, and with a freshly expired warranty since last October... what do you think I did to it?

Guys, I sinned, I did it, I have been buying everything over the last month....
  • Unitronic Catted Downpipe*
  • Forge turbo blanket - why not, never had one before
  • Wagner Intercooler
  • AMS Intake, 034 inlet pipe
  • Latest "-J" rev. diverter valve and the "-BL" rev. PCV
  • COBB / EQT Protune (w/ RS7 plugs as recomendad by the tuner)
  • Powered folding (aspherical) mirrors......
*Difficult choice between this one, the HPA and the AMS dp, but the Uni looks like the best quality, design, reputation and the only one with lifetime warranty... my local shop is a dealer so done deal.

The Wagner intercooler was a no brainer as it looks quality, weighs only 18 pounds and still beats/matches the other IC from more established brands....
The AMS intake probably doesn't flow better than Forge's or the R600, my other choices, and it was a little pricy, but looks super nice lol
The 034 inlet is probably the best - http://mygolfmk7.com//turbo-inlet-pipe/ - The PCV plug design helps - http://mygolfmk7.com/2019/12/034-and-ie-elbow-velocity-investigation/

Up next will be the mounts with a Deadset kit... we will see how it goes on the clutch lol..... I have replaced every fluid on this car in preparation for this 🙏

Sweet! I'm going to pick one up soon. Is this a fairly easy DIY job (with any supplied instructions) or requires serious knowledge and tools?
I should clarify that I had this installed and didn't install this myself😄. It was really easy for the tech though and it only took 30 minutes. He was using a long wrench and another super long tool that I didn't recognize but I think that would be a huge challenge if I was doing it on jack stands.

Yeah when I first tried to install mine on jack stands it was silly tough and gave up cause I couldn’t get the bolt free. After talking to a dealer tech he told me that they would just use an impact to remove it while locking the crank.

So when I was doing my clutch I had the tool that locks the flywheel and was able to use my impact to remove it with ease.

I do have both the tools that lock the crank side in place and the oem style one with the super long arm was much better constructed but couldn’t get it on the car While only on jack stands due to needing the crank to be located near TDC.

Several forum members here have started speaking out against this, and even suggested the tuner info is pending an update to change this suggestion.
Ugh not this again. Ed literally went through this in the EQT thread a few days ago and has no intention of changing the recommendation in the EQT FAQ. Especially since he's being pro tuned, why would he use something other than what was recommended?

FMIC life
Yeah, things you don't know about before you get an FMIC.

Golfdave.....I think the only tray that will somewhat add help is the one Tigeo is running...the mk6 tdi tray....still just plastic, but at least covers the oil pan. I must say I'm not familiar with the GRP tray?

Just get creative.....alter the brackets a little...obviously doesn't know the fine art of brackets......:ROFLMAO:

Fabrication - Bad Obsession Motorsport
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah .....no. fabrication is not my wheel house. I want it to be, but it's simply not. The allroad brackets wouldn't mount no matter what due to the FMIC piping. I'd have to construct (aka fab) special brackets and I'm man enough to say I just can't do that.

The skid tray which requires the two metal brackets is GRP...actually reinforced with aramid/Kevlar fibres ...& totally wrecked several new jigsaw blades when I had to alter mine to fit the Tiguan subframe cover.

There is also a thin plastic aero tray which is the same size & is in GTE spec (loads of vents), Diesel noise insulation spec (one or two vents)..& eco spec...no vents...

There is also the Mk8 Golf eco huge tray which is the same thin material, but also fully covers the front subframe..right up to the start of the exhaust tunnel...but really requires the Audi Aluminium subframe due to the rear fittings..
