I'm very happy with the Raceseng knob. I really liked the dimpled surface of the stock shift knob, so I was leaning towards one of the BFI knobs initially. In the end, I decided that more weight mattered more to me than tactile feel. I had also read several reviews that took issue with the long-term build quality of their BFI knobs. This is my first aftermarket shift knob on any car I've owned, and it's amazing to me how much the shifting feel is cleaned up by the knob's weight. I may end up going with something like the Boomba short shift adaptor to shorten the throws, though.
I secured the shift boot with painters tape. I didn't have loctite for the adaptor screws, so I attached the boot in a way that it would hold for the time being, but be easy to remove in the near future. I taped the boot to the adaptor so that the fold at the top of the boot (the part closest to the shift knob) was a little higher than where it needed to be in order to be flush with the base of the core. When the I screwed the core on, it pushed the shift boot down a bit, and ended up perfectly flush.
I'll have to re-secure the boot to apply loctite to the adaptor screws, and I don't know whether this method will work with the Raceseng ziptie, though. I may combine the painters tape with the ziptie and see if I get the same results. Hope this is useful to you.
