there is no doubt that on paper a MK7 is lighter, more powerful & has much more torque than its predecessor...

people were wondering by how much it is faster in real life?

so there you go, I made 2 races for you MK6/MK7 guys

note: this is the standard 220hp MK7 GTI without performance package...read video description

To be honest I would expect the MK6 to win the day as the engine is more run in than the MK7, I have noticed the MPG on my MK7 is starting to reduce as the mileage increases.

been good bro not bad, the gti is in dubai since my bro studies there! i was there and man the car feel much better with dubai fuel lol. it pulls much harder than out shit fuel!

will custom tune her soon ;-)

you're actually right! thats why in second race mk6 could stay near MK7 longer than first race; but it's street racing one will always bury the throttle before the other

Not surprised by this. Testing for the MK7 so far has been more than a half-second quicker than the MK6 cars when comparably equipped.

Both from Car & Driver Mag with manual-equipped cars on summer tires;

Mk6 GTI
- 0-60 in 6.1 sec
- 1/4 mile in 14.7 sec. at 97mph

MK7 GTI - NON-Performance Pack
- 0-60 in 5.6 sec.
- 1/4 mile in 14.2 sec. and 100mph

The DSG cars are 2/10+ quicker yet...

I'm really doubtful a manual MK7 will do 5.6! I couldn't do that with DSG! I did 1/4 mile in 14.2 though without the spare wheel
