Hi,

I bought a used APR stage 3 kit for my 2016 R (DSG). I am planning on adding MPI and a larger fuel pump, probably from Precision Raceworks.

As far as I know, my tuning options are:

  • United Motorsports. Not local to me.
  • Eurodyne (with Meastro). I love the facts that they're local to me and have a tune-at-home option.
  • APR (but only if I buy their MPI kit)
  • Anything else?

I am currently running Unitronic stage 2 (stacked JB4 +4psi), and their stage 2 DSG. I understand I will have to ditch Unitronic altogether.

Any opinions, comments, suggestions? Or experience with that combo? I will only do the install in the Spring, but I'm already getting everything lined up.

Thanks!

UM ... find a tuner that supports them

Closest UM tuner is about 2 hours away. That's still an option... Two main benefits for UM are their Haldex tuning (which I could get anyway), and their flex fuel option.

I know.. I know Matt (Moose) and he is absolutely great. But I don't really like ED DSG tunes... That's my main issue.

Don’t get an ED dsg tune.

You could get a non-ED DSG tune and just pair it with their ECU tunes. Matt does great work and his boss 600 tune on my GTI w/ MPI is doing well.

The new Stage 3 DSG software is actually pretty good, EXCEPT, if you try to launch with slicks on a prepped surface it bogs and the power just cuts out. The Maestro group on facebook is trying to get this resolved.

I would drive to United Motorsports and get a proper custom tune. Once its done properly you can enjoy.

Otherwise I would go with the canned APR tune, buy all the necessary hardware.

The goal really is to have a solid reliable tune. Once its done, just drive and enjoy.

I have an EFR 7163 FSI motor and I am having it custom dyno tuned (Eurodyne) by an experienced shop.
