Tunes and VW dealers

Hello all. I have an MK7 and I'm looking forward to the upcoming release of the APR ecu software. My question is to all the current and past vw owners in Dubai and how the dealer dealt with tunes on warranty cars. Dealers here seem to be more strict then other parts of the world.
Anyone have any input or warnings about tuning a warranty car here?
Thanks.

I would like to know as well, even though I am pretty sure it will void the warranty.
Also, does it apply to changing the Rims, exhaust, suspension etc?

Hi dansslc / sanveed,

I just picked my car up on the 30th of June and I had asked the sales guy again with regards to the tuning. His "again" was that I would lose my warranty. This is the input I have from the dealership but then again I feel it would be better to get a reply from the service guys rather than the sales guys.

Hey PWN-GTI,

I got the same reply from them. But I really wanna know specifically what kind of tuning will void the warranty.
The service guys arent much of a help as well when you call them. Perhaps when its time for my 1st service.. Which is not that far away :'(

hey, Sanaveed90,

I was chatting the sales guy up on info about the ECU tuning. I've heard that APR was getting a lot of extra horses without changing stock parts. I had mentioned this to him and he said that chip tuning would void warranty.

Cant really say about exhaust and suspensions mods but i guess these guys in dxb are pretty strict when it comes to "any" mods.

Its sad that dealers in this country are so uneducated. Esp the sales guys, they have proven just to be blowing hot air when ive asked any sort of technical questions. I live in fear when ive had to bring my cars into them. All you hear is countless horror stories esp from al naboodah.
Im not actually sure the techs at the dealer would even look for a tune when plugging it in. Does anybody know specifically what it looks like when plugged in? Is there a warning or a flagged situation? You could always get the car tuned and then have the tune remove before each dealer service, then claim no knowledge when they ask if the car has been tuned. Just hope our wonderful VAG cars dont break down between the services ;) haha

Haha, don't get me started on the sales guys.
I really wanna go and talk to this guy. He was the manager at al
Nabooda. His name was Voukasen or something.
He seemed like an enthusiast himself. And he kinda helped me out book my car and get it to me the earliest. Although it took the same time -_-

My heart won't really break if I can't do any kind of ECU tuning but it's stupid if I can't even change my rims. 225s kinda look skinny to me anyways.
That's the only thing I am looking forward for right now.

You guys heard of Autohaus? A lot of positive reviews about them. I was really considering them once upon a time. But that drive to DIP area :/

Soo annoying :(

PWN-GTI, planning anything for your car?

I love evertyhting about the car so far. the only thing i wish for is it to be a bit more louder. the sound when the car is in sport mode is what i'm looking for - But at all times. :D:D:D

other than that - i do have plans but i dont want to screw up my warranty - i kinda am already killing the car with my daily DXB-AUH commute - but hey - i got the 5 years unlimited km warranty. this is truly what has my hands tied. :(:(

Many tuned GTI's have their warranty, what i understand they can only void warranty on a part which is proven to be problematic due to your modification.

My friend has an MK6 with a k04(upgraded turbo) and he replaced his entire DSG under warranty.

you can tune just stay careful because sometimes they bring some European specialists to check on cars.

My car went to the 45k service with all the goodies installed I didn't even remove the tune box. they gave me no crap about warranty

Also many UAE guys are tuned as well. I guess it's best you join VW club uae and ask around

best of luck guys :)
