Looks like an IS38+

https://www.turbopartscanada.ca/collections/audi/products/new-is38-ball-bearing-turbo

TPC now offers the popular IS38 turbo in a ball bearing version. Not only have we removed the horrible IHI bearing system and replaced it with a Garrett style bearing system but we also increased the shaft diameter as well to handle higher boost pressures. The compressor and turbine wheels remain OEM sized.

This means you no longer have to taper your boost down towards redline. Most tuners will peak their tunes around 28psi and taper down to 22 psi by redline. With our ball bearing IS38 you can run max boost all the way to redline increasing performance over a regular journal bearing IS38.

This turbo will run on any off the shelf IS38 tune but a custom tune is recommended to take full advantage of the extra boost you can run with this turbo.

This is an all new turbo so no core is required.

Does not come with a diverter valve, you must reuse yours.

Looks like a very solid option for those not looking to go hybrid.

In theory, would you need to run a HPFP to achieve 28PSI to redline?

Heck of a price. Power numbers should only be like any other IS38. Unless ball bearings add a few HP.

That price doesnt seem bad at all.

Shouldn't it make more power since according to them, there is no need to taper the psi close to redline? I think that would be the only advantage in power depending on where the boost starts to be tapered.

A little bit. For the price it's a great option instead of an OEM IS38.

this is exactly correct hence why we have no dyno info. If an is38 can still produce power at 32 psi then you could run this turbo to redline at that boost level. We are not claiming it makes more power than an is38 psi for psi we are claiming that you can run higher boost levels than any oem style is38 without worrying about launching the turbine wheel/shaft into your downpipe.
