I just had my car apart 3,000 miles ago, and the BFI transmission mount insert had zero issues/wear after 131,000 miles in the car.

Same goes for the dog bone mount insert & the OEM bushing it fills in.

I got a Billet BFI Transmission mount for free from a buddy, so I swapped it in at that time. While it does seem to be slightly stiffer as you’d imagine, I don’t feel the full transmission mount is “better” or necessary vs the insert I ran since 2016.

Yeah, about 1oz per 1,000 miles.

In the aviation industry we have leak limits for just about everything, and given the notoriously poor reputation of these water pumps I consider that to be well within what I consider a acceptable range.

For the last five years or so I add 10oz twice a year. No change in that rate, and our GLI is about identical.

Even I leak like 16 oz every hour

034 mounts and full dogbone kit (arm/inserts/bushings) for the last few years. About a dozen track days and 50+ drag runs. No issues/drama. Feels tight but not obnoxious. Not fwd or super high power here.

Is the BFI s1 engine mount top bolt supposed to be tightened at all or don’t mess with it?

Man this thread just made me really question my “firm” decision on 034 mounts from FCP.

IIRC BFI tells you to leave it alone. I know there were some issues with the allen head bolt, but I want to say they're tied to [over]torquing the bolt when replacing the insert. Not too certain, I've never had one need replaced. Ran them in my mk4 days and now in the mk7 and they're a fantastic piece.

Yeah it seems that way, I don’t hear a lot about torque solutions but it seems like they can be had around $300 for the set I’ve debated giving them a go
