Tirerack is running a special for 70 off for either Gmax RS and Peirelli

Curious who has what and your thoughts. Gmax after picking up and rebate is about 430 and Pirelli P Zero Nero GT after rebates 530, they are different categories (Max performance summer) and (ultra high performance summer).

Yes I know these are"B" category tires but money is tight so cant afford Ps4s. I guess the main difference is Pirelli will probably wear a little more? These will be summer only tires. lmk what you think i should get.

Looking at size 235/40/18 most likely going on 18x8.5x et 43 or et 45 (mr140 or konig dekagram)

This is a daily, so im looking for: ride comfort, quite tire, good performance, good in wet, if i ever track it will probably be like 1 time lol

i actually have the G Max RS on my z3 on the oem 16" wheels (225/50/16). I also have another set of Michelin PS4S on an aftermarket 18" staggered set (235/40/18 and 265/35/18). I will say the G Max RS tires are good for the money. I wouldn't expect much in terms of superior grip, but they're decent in the wet. i've gotten the back-end to get loose on wet days when i try to do so and it does take a bit of effort to get them to break. I will say that they're decently quiet and comfortable, but i'm not sure how that translates to the tire size you're going to use. I wouldn't bother uses these tires for the track though.

no experience with any Pirelli tires.

GMAX is the right answer for a DD. The last couple of sets of Pirelli's I've had were hot garbage.

They'd do fine on track if you don't overheat them by trying to drive them like a track tire.

15k+ miles on GMax RS, great tire for the money, excellent wet performance and plenty good enough in the dry. Continental is their parent company. Wear rate is really impressing me as well. If you are coming from stock Hankooks or something the difference will be night and day, although you might find them a bit harsher ride. If that could bother you, you might be better off considering the Falken FK510 which is the GMax RS closest direct competitor....but I doubt the difference would be enough to overrule a really good price.

No experience/have done no research on those particular Pirellis. Pirelli do know how to make a very good tire....but they also seem to produce some cheap n nasty OEM fit ones as well which is why they generally get a bad rap on this forum.

I have the GMax in 235/40/18 on Dekagrams but haven't installed yet. There could still be a cold snap and don't want to chance putting them on too early.
Tire Rack ratings are usually fairly accurate* and General tires have been great on my trucks and Jeep, so that's what I went with. The supposedly excellent wet weather performance of the Gmax is a big selling point for daily driver use. Particularly after the Bridgestones scared me a few times in the rain on rather gentle turns.

* enclosed Tire Rack's rating of the stock Potenza RE97AS garbage to show they don't sugar coat everything.
