Great, just bought my gti and needed winter tires and installed them on my Austin’s. Turns out they let a new kid work on the car and…

This happened 2 weeks ago and I just noticed it when a friend pointed it out.

I hate when something like this happens and you don't notice it immediately. Same thing happened to me when a shop incorrectly lifted my car and slightly bent the rocker panels. I'm the only one that notices it, but it still annoys me that I didn't see it that day and bring it up.

Sorry Bro. Had a similar thing happen to me. Brought my fleet vehicle to Les Schwab (great reputation) to install 4 new Conti M&S, and brought them a plugged tire to plug and patch from the golf. They were doing this as a favor, which was awesome, but they f-d up every wheel including the Rotiform from the golf. I didn’t care so much about the company car but was pretty pissed about the Rotiform. I had taken pictures of all the wheels before they started. They tried to send me on my way, but I pointed out their mistakes, and showed them the pictures. Manager stepped up and paid for wheel repair on the Rotiform. Still a shitty experience but glad I took pictures of each wheel before they started work. I don’t trust any tire shop, so I pay out the nose for a high-end mobile tire service. Expensive and worth it. Rocking some cosmetically f-d up S3 wheels as my winter tire setup now, and glad that I don’t have to think about wheels for another 4-5 months.

I talked to the guy and he asked me to send pictures, said he will reach out to me later today. Let’s see how it goes. Oh did I mention they ripped the side wall of the tires. Are these even usable now?

Those should absolutely be replaced on their dime or the tire company's. It's from the pry bar they use; I just don't know if it's due to bad mount, bad dismount (my bet), or defective tire. If multiple tires, it's likely user error.

ALWAYS take pictures of your wheels before getting anything done to them and inspect/compare them to the photos when they return the car to you so you can point it out immediately. I've been doing this for decades and it's gotten at least one wheel replaced when something like this happened. The guys at the counter tend not to care but the manager/owner will capitulate when you show them the photo from just 1 hour ago......

what kind of a shop did you go to? Refund, new tire, wheel repair and go to a different shop forever

Forgot to update but since it was 14 days since I got the change they won’t compensate me and only offered a free tire change. Did I mention they didn’t give me my wheel lock key.
