I bought the MDI red collar cable

the Artwork now it showing on the screen

and I downloaded music vids and it's mp4

but its just the sound no video on the screen

can you help how did you do it..? (^^,)

Hey,mabrook on getting the wire. That was pretty quick!

I played around with the settings for PAL and NTSC and the color and saturation options and somehow it worked, i think it was the PAL and NTSC.

Are you getting the black screen with audio? Thats how i started out as well. Then i chose either PAL or NTSC and played with the color settings and it worked.

but do you use iTunes to copy the vid on your iPod? if yes i think just drag & drop the vid...

Yup itunes, i just drag the video to itunes. Then plug in the ipod, go to videos, manually sync the video u added / "selected", and then it should be on.

Hello,

I'm based in Dubai and am waiting for delivery of a CSG GTI from the local dealer. Is there anyone else out here who has got their car from them. Anything I should know about or expect or hassle the dealer for? Has anyone here been disappointed/satisfied with their service?

Hey, Delivery is usually on time, i've taken delivery from them twice without a problem (my sales person was Ravi) . Just make sure the PDI (pre delivery inspection) was done properly as they may miss some stuff out like what happ to me. Check that everything is working.

I had a problem with the camera and control unit which took about 2 months in total to rectify. But they were nice about it and provided a car (Touareg, passat and jetta) to use during that time at no cost to me. (Nabooda rent a car)

Apart from that nothing to worry about.

Just getting a service appointment takes a little while (even worse with Audi), so when service is about to be due, say estimate 2-3 weeks to get an appointment. So if you have 1000kms to go take the appt, better early than late.

Also for your own knowledge, check the oil level often (every 3000kms) on the new gti (as advised by the head of service), ive run out at 7000kms, and service is every 15000, so thats out of pocket.

Anything else you need to know, feel free to ask

That's weird. They they should top up your oil for free. Mine also gave me an "oil level" warning at 7k but the dealer topped up for free. And when i replaced the battery at ali&sons (abu dhabi) they also topped it up

This will be my first brand new self-bought, non hand-me-down car hence the questions

Did you go with any particular detailing brand or service for your exterior/interior and tint? Any recommendations?

I thought about the top up thing because Audi does it for us for free, but this was on a thursday at about 5 pm in jebel ali, and i had to do something about it. Hence out of pocket, but i only put half a litre.

For Tint, Vkool is the way to go, KindiGti and I mentioned the tints we have done. Ive done 3M before but i took it off in under a week.

Ive done :
Vkool 30% K28 all around.
K28(30%) + H20(40%) on the rear 2 and rear windscreen.
G05 70% on the front sun visor.

All our cars have Vkool, have been using them since 2004 when they started here in partnership with Toyota.

For detailing, I had actually taken a cobone for a company called Zain Car Care located in Ras Al Khor, since then no cobones, i just go to him directly. I love their quality and and attention to detail. You can get a lot better but costs vary, i pay 500....ive been quoted upto 3000dhs from various top names.

Heres some pics of my dads car after detailing at Zain last month. Its from my phone so not that great

This was the first time dad agreed to a detail in 4 years, so it wouldnt be as nice as a car that is done every year

As for the thrashing...well its a gti You gotta enjoy it XD

It's probably worth having a look at the manufacturing date of the tyres that are installed as well because I think the RTA will ask you to change your tyres if they're more than a specific age, maybe 3/5/10.. not sure.. cos I've come across brand new cars with fitted tyres that are already more than a year or 2 old..

Booked for a new GTI last month and now I am expecting it next week. The wait was unbearable. 25th mostly.. Following this forum for a while and quite helpful.
Planning to do a vkool tint as soon as I get it. Any idea how much it will cost approximately?
