I was referring (and I assume everyone else was also) to the "oil temp" screen in the dash, not the coolant gauge. Most of my drives are ~20minutes or less and on the screen it doesn't hit 212 very often and when it does it's not for very long before it falls below it again.

But I've also noticed on the accessport "engine oil temp" will show a slightly higher number than what the car shows us. 🤷‍♂️

Short drives will have a harder time getting oil up to temp of course. But it shouldn't take significantly longer with the current tune compared to the previous version.

Ed,

Car just felt flat, if that makes sense. I may go custom with you just to get the tailor made experience, however. My oil temps would drop below 200 sitting in traffic, which I guess is fine, but with a stock tune I’ll hit 220 easily. Maybe it’s just time for a higher performing car from the onset. Nothing against your products, they perform flawlessly.
If you were used to the very sensitive throttle from the older version, I could see that the new version would take a little getting used to. But once you do, there should be nothing flat about it. The throttle is still very responsive, just more controllable to allow for a smoother drive. I'd recommend for you to install the tune and reserve judgement until you drive it for at least a week.

@Ed @ EQT I'm running the 2.51 update on my DSG MK7 GTI and loving it, but I have noticed that the DV issue that was fixed 100% for me 2.0 is happening sometimes on 2.51. Any explanation?

that is actually the opposite of what everyone else has observed. The more linear throttle mapping allows the DV to work better all around. You could try reflashing the tune again to clear any learning and drive it around for a few days to see how it does.

Of course it's just me lol. It's all good, I know I'm hyper-sensitive to it since it happened literally every single time after taking off from a stop on Unitronic and it was much more pronounced on that tune than it ever was on EQT. Will try reflashing (y)

I’m so confused haha, I saw all the rave reviews and upgraded from 2.50 (6MT, Stage 2 OTS) a few days ago and have had pretty much the exact opposite experience as most others – having never had any problems on previous versions driving at slow speeds, I now find it’s quite jerky, with odd surges of power (that I don’t get higher up in the revs). And when I blip the throttle in first with the clutch in (which I do a lot in stop and go traffic in NYC to keep it smooth if I’m rolling slowly and am about to let the clutch pedal out) then the revs jump super high – a tiny blip that used to take it to about 1100 now takes it up to 2000, and you can see there’s a kind of second automated blip happening after my foot has come off the throttle, which wasn’t there at all with 2.50. Also finding the throttle pedal much more sensitive than it was before... I feel like I’m having to be super cautious with my right foot so the car doesn’t take off like a scolded cat whenever I give a little gas, haha, so weird. I’ll keep re-learning how to drive my car for a few days and hopefully I’ll get used to it, otherwise I guess I’ll go back to 2.50. Anyone else experiencing anything like this, or am I losing it...?

I have to agree with you. Since updating to v2.51 on my Stage 2 93, driving in traffic at slow speed, I have experienced the jerky and sudden surges behavior mention. Makes the driving experience a little stressful.

You're both on Stage 2 so this could be isolated to that. Everyone on Stage 1 have not mentioned any of those issues so far.

FWIW I have a custom remote dyno tune from EQT and asked Ed if this update could be added to a custom tune and he sent me the update. Just got it so I haven't flashed it yet.

In regards to the throttle/pedal mapping is he aware you have a pedal tuner on the car set to max?

I’ve seen many tuner suggest not to run then cause they do mess with the signal for “part throttle driving cause they go from 20% 100% very rapidly.

I’m still running mine, but in the green setting and with that setting turned down as much as I could too. Lol
I like to keep it on cause it makes for an easier “blip” when I take off or downshift. But with my tune it’s deff smoother/more linear with it fully off.

I guess I'll weigh in. There were a few spots I hit in my area from time to time where I'd have to slow down, then pick up, and I always got jerky surges at lower speeds. I haven't had that on 2.51, it seems to smooth out the jerk I had, and I'm on a stage 2 OTS tune from EQT with the most recent DSG tune too. It felt like it lost a little power in the lower gears, but I think it's more that it's smoothed out a little better now. I haven't noticed any other issues, but I have observed the oil temp on the dash reading lower than it typically did before (210-215~).

I find 2.51 more sensitive, and i like it.

He wouldn't know that I have the Pedal Tuner but it worked fine after my remote dyno tune with the Pedal Tuner set to maximum.

Took the v2.51 Stage 1 91 out tonight, thought the response was nice, put me in the camp that thinks it's more driveable than v2.50 on the DSG.

At 35F ambient temp the oil hovered around 200 during boulevard cruising, and 210-214 when I took it to Mexico.
