Super confused about headlight options

Hey I have a 2017 MK7 GTI SE with what I think are bixenon headlights. I need to buy a new set of aftermarket ones because the passenger side assembly cracked due to a hit and run. Which aftermarket headlight options make the most sense, ideally <$500?

This topic confuses the heck out of me with so many options. Is there a bi xenon option similar to what came with my car, OR do I have to get LED?

The SE came with bixenon adaptive headlights (they turn at an angle when the steering wheel is turned 15 degrees or something like that) and no company makes them like that. TBH I'd probably buy a set off ECS Tuning since they have their lifetime warranty. OEM will run you around $2K; aftermarket ~$600. If they fail you can send it back for a replacement.

Aftermarket Halogen Headlights are not compatible with cars that have Xenon headlights like your SE.

AFAIK, there aren't any aftermarket replacements for the bixenon headlights. your best bet is to look for a used headlight on eBay or FB Marketplace.

So I can’t get aftermarket? Can I downgrade to halogen aftermarket or it’s not compatible at all? Because Goddamn, 1.2k for the passenger side Genuine bi xenon’s…

Why am I seeing two original part numbers for the passenger side bixenon?

5GM941754A or 5GM941752A

Which one?

Supposedly, the one ending in 4A is just a newer revision of the same headlight.

at least that's what I found on reddit

based on my vin I think I have the 4A one. I don’t know if the 2A will work on my car since u mentioned revisions. both options are available so I just need to figure out if that matters and go from there

Yea I just finished this headlight journey myself, 17' SE and my assemblies cracked. So I had to get new ones.

-No you can't downgrade to halogens. You have to get the Bi-Xenon assemblies, yes they are stupid expensive. As mentioned you can get OSRAM, and lose some functionality.
- There are different part numbers for the Bi-Xenon because there is a version for North American cars (these have amber side markers) and the other version, or ROW have clear side markers. - I got the clear side marker version.
- ECS Tuning or other online retailers will sell you new ones. Don't go to the dealer, when I checked it was 1700 per side.

My Part# information that I used to source assemblies:
OEM North American region: Driver-5G1941753A - Passenger-5G1941754A
Euro/ROW: Driver-5G1941031 Passenger-5G1941032

*There is a version made by Valeo, which is what I have/ Clear side markers too.

VALEO 046806
VALEO 046807

If I buy the OEM 5GM941754A, does that assembly come with a DRL module and all the other bulbs?
-DRL module apparently has a part number of 4G0-907-697-F, I think?
-8K0941597E ballast
-5N0941329 power module for cornering light
-8N0953053 turn signal
-N10320102 high beam
-N10721805 low beam

I don’t think the assembly comes with any of those, it’s just the plastic housing and that’s it?

My check DRL warning is coming on right now on my cracked headlight

So now I need the headlight assembly and a DRL?

Your transfer over your modules and bulbs. There is a DRL ballast, xenon ballast, and a AFS module. That is only three modules there attached to the underside of the assembly. I believe your part number for the DRL is correct.

My DRL is toast. Seems that the DRL module doesn’t come with the OEM headlight assembly and would be an added cost. For OSRAM, tbey include all modules and bulbs, I think.

I believe the OSRAM's require some minimal coding.
