Hello all,
I am a Porsche Macan 2.0 owner and I have been following this forum for quite some time. Unfortunately there are almost no enthusiasts that modify the Base Macan that shares the same engine with the Golf R (EA888 Gen3 2.0 TFSI). So I thought it's best to sign up and shoot my questions out to you.
I have recently rebuilt my engine following an unforeseen engine failure and used forged internals this time.
About my vehicle:
It’s a 2017 Porsche Macan 2.0
I am now in the middle of getting the tune done via a e-tuner and have an issue that bugs me. I want to see if this is tune related or a mechanical issue that needs to be solved.
The problem is, when I go above 4000rpm and let go of the gas pedal quickly, the rpm hangs and slowly decelerates (normal behaviour to not to shift up in sport plus mode). If I press the pedal again, the rev stutters, car feels like the fuel is cut, I hear pops and bangs from the exhaust and rpm is not picking up. Otherwise if I floor the pedal from any gear or standstill, no problems. Video is also attached. What could be the reason? Thanks a lot in advance!

About my vehicle:
It’s a 2017 Porsche Macan 2.0
- The engine has 115k kilometers on it, it is rebuilt with Mahle forged pistons & rods: https://www.bar-tek-tuning.com/forged-piston-con-rod-kit-mahle-race-v2-2-0-l-tsi .Note that original pistons has a 9.6:1 compression ratio, whereas this one has 9.5:1 ratio, if it’s important. Bore is 83mm.
- OEM original IHI IS38 turbo installed. Current tune target is 1.75bar.
- TCU tune is done, to remove the torque limiter on the DL501 Gen2 DSG that the Macans have (Porsche however calls them PDK).
- Coils are replaced with these ones: https://www.bar-tek-tuning.com/ignition-coils-high-end-red
- Intercooler: https://www.bar-tek-tuning.com/intercooler-fds-2-0-l-tsi-ea888-mqb
- Spark plugs are Audi RS7 original spark plugs.
- Injectors are replaced with OEM new ones, same cc (all 8 of them)
- PCV valve replaced
- Downpipe (catless) installed
- AEM WMI system installed
- MAP sensor replaced with original oem (standard map sensor that this engine ships with)
- Knock sensor replaced
- Engine mounts replaced
- Fuel pump upgraded with Autotech internals.
- Alpha air filter installed. https://www.cobbtuning.com/products...p-in-air-filter-1-filter-macan-base-2017-2018
- Vehicle has the sport-chrono option, which gives a Sport Plus mode (quicker response & launch control)
