  • Hi everyone, I had a hard time finding information regarding stage 1 tunes and a couple of piggybacks as well. It's better when people can easily find information.
  • The chart below is based on MSRP of the Stage 1 tunes that I could find.
  • Sale Prices, Combo Prices, Data Cables, and Shop Hours are not included.
  • HP and Torque of the stock car are based on my model. Data listed is the claims for each company's website. Their HP/Torque gains may differ due to their sample car.

Excellent chart and great work. I'm wondering if we had info to add for a JB4 with Map 6. Haven't found a definitive dyno for a 1.8 that shows how far a Map 6 JB4 will be behind a traditional stage 1 tune.

What mods did you have at the time of the dyno?

I have A3 1.8tfsi ROW model with dsg7, you can see in my signatures of all the mods except didnt had TCU flash at that time.

I believe if you dig through the jb4 threads, you can find a dyno of a map 6 with 93 and a downpipe that did like 230whp. I know with a few gallons of e85 mixed in it will be past 250whp. I guess they would be considered stage 2 though.

i believed i will be somewhere close to 230whp now as i had added charge/throttle pipes and TCU stage 2+ flash but that wont show power. Will try few liters of E100 mixed and dyno on map 6.

If you are only doing about 10 more whp than with the Jb4 on map 6, was the stage 2 tune worth it? Also what fuel were you running when you dynoed the map 6?

I'm considering a Stage 1+ unitronics tune... but if it's not THAT much of again from the jb4 than that may change my plans!

I know this thread kind of died, but was wondering how much difference people notice going from JB4 Map 1 to a Unitronic Stage 1?

Debating if it’s worth it to do a flash tune, or stick with JB4 and just mix in a few litres of E85 with a custom map 6 for the times I want a but more power.

Unitronic stg1 vs JB4 in the chart above is not a good comparison, because JB4 is measured at the wheels, while Uni is crank. Also, Uni torque gain is misleading, as their stock engine is rated at 224, not 185, according to their chart. So net gain of 49, not 74.

i was on 97RON which is the highest quality fuel i get here, i had to get TVS stage 2+ TCU tune for my weaker DSG7 DQ200 to hold more clamp load.

Any one ever chart the various tunes on same axis, same starting points? I notice APR HP and TQ starts diverging from OEM curves at 1500 rpm but Uni chart shows the split off at 1800 rpm.

appreciate the time u put into this! Is APR the only company that has a tune for 87 octane ?
