Sportwagen Seat swap.

I had the week of Memorial day off. During my vacation I drove down to Florida to swap seats from my Sportwagen with a GTI. I wanted the plaid and he wanted my seats. I have since swapped the console armrest, brake boot, shifter and steering wheel. I think it really looks good. I found out that the GTD Estate Wagon in Europe has black pillars and headliner. I am trying to find the parts on eBay so that I can complete the swap. I removed the GTI emblem on the bottom of the Steering Wheel to an R emblem since my wagon is 4motion. Its an R dammit, lol.

What did you do to make sure there's no problem with the air bags in the front seats? Is it enough just to disconnect the battery's negative terminal, or are there other tricks to it?

That's really cool!!!

Nice swap

Thank you. I really like them. The wife thought I was crazy when I went down to swap them but after seeing them in person she thinks they look good too. Now on to the performance mods.

Yes, disconnect the battery and swap the module from under the passenger seat and the only codes that you will get will be related to disconnecting the battery. They will clear after driving a block or two. No vagcom needed.

Thanks. I found that info - from you, LOL - in another thread after posting my question.

Did you lose your ability to drop the seats with the pull handles in the trunk or so they still drop?

Yes you will loose that ability. However, you can buy the internal cables and cover for the rear seats and install them if you wish to retain that feature. They are about 45 per seat the last time I checked. You would also have to cut an access hole in the seat cover and stitch around it to keep the material from fraying. I planned to do this but never got around to it.
