Sold My GTI... Regretted it... Jetta GLI?

So like the title says... I sold my GTI... and kind of regret it now. I sold it because it was a 2016 S WITHOUT the performance pack (so no LSD). Was looking at used MK7 GTIs... and *hurk*.... the prices on them are super high and half of them look like they've been beaten on every single mile they have on the odometer.

That leads me to my question.... What is the difference between the Mk7 GTI versus the new 2022 GLI? They're both on the MQB chasis right? I'm assuming same suspension and everything for both? With the difference being that the GLI is a sedan while the GTI is a hatch? Or are there more differences?

just make sure if you get a GLI its an autobahn otherwise get a GTI every time. the digital cockpit is awesome

Nice GLI...I would not buy a car from South Charlotte though...I like keeping my money!! I got my GTI for about $3000 less at Gastonia than South would sell theirs to me. Keffer was worse.

Yeah I'm looking at the 7 speed DSG.

Does the 2022 GLI have the whole VW SFD and the new ECU to worry about? It shouldn't right?

GLI only has the autobahn trim now. No more base model from what I understand.

I just traded in my 2017 GTI Sport w/ 50k miles manual for a 2020 GLI Autobahn w/ 5k miles DSG last month and haven't looked back once. To be fair, the GTI was in a major accident, and though it was repaired, still didn't feel right. If that accident never happened I would still have the GTI. HOWEVER, I love this GLI. Being able to blast the cooling seats when I leave the gym is the best part.

the gli is the Yin to the yang that is the gti. theres just so many reasons to buy a gti instead of a GLI. you have to really want a gli for the subdued look or unless you have plans to modify the appearance which I did but didn't want to buy a car to change it majorly. when GLI's are modified, they look VERY good. especially with 19" wheels. in addition, the GLI had faster numbers than a GOLF R in a timed run. they said it was due to the tires and longer wheel base. food for thought.

I’ve bought three cars from South Charlotte and never even went there to purchase the GLI. Called and told my salesman what I wanted, they agreed on it & delivered the car to my house.

Salesman are gonna salesman at most dealerships, it’s all about negotiating a deal that’s realistic and if you have a good relationship with a sales team it can be very easy or conversely that could take you to the cleaners if you walk in off the street and just say I want that one.

I know you already realize it is a sedan vs hatch but that is really a huge thing. The GLI is seriously subtle. Subtle in that, if you don't know VWs, you wouldn't have a clue that the GLI is a "performance" variant with GTI meats. Just as similar as one not knowing a Golf R is a high end golf. Though I think the GTI has more of a "look" than the "GLI" to at least give some people an idea that it is performance based. Heck, the GTI has more of a look than the R to give people a thought that it is the highest end VW you could buy.

I saw a GTI at the gas station last night with big ass anime girl stickers on the windows and it had hearts instead of badges. It was seriously bagged, spaced and said “SHE THICC” on it.

This would never happen on a GLI.

I don’t know about this. More people have tried racing me in one month of GLI ownership than in all my time owning a GTI. The other morning it was a Nissan Altima..

Yeah I’ve lately gotten more people trying to show out and race me while I’m in the Tiguan than the GTI I’m just thinking as it happens “oh hell no, you lucky I’m not in my GTI, matter of fact follow me home so I can get it”
