Thermostat is leaking with lots of obvious build up. Car is stage 1 flash with FMIC and DP. Looking for a dealer near Long Beach if possible.

a little far from Long Beach, but Capo VW is cool with mods, too. The techs all drive modded VAG cars and always know/ask me about my car when i bring it in.

Debating doing my IS20 install, so I might try and tackle the Waterpump myself. Local indy shops charge about 400 for labor on it, so might be a nice savings. Probably pick the kit up from FCP regardless. Though their OE kit for 350ish is out of stock, not sure if I want to spend 650 on the OEM kit or just order the $285 WP/Thermo kit from ECS and do FCP if it fails again.. plan on keeping the wagon a while.

Went there to get 2 recalls done. Service writer Clayton wrote it up, got me in and out in ~1hr with a free carwash.

I'd only go to a dealer if it was warranty work. Otherwise, there are plenty of highly qualified independent tech's in So Cal.

Any VW specialist recommendations in Los Angeles or Orange County? I'm looking to have someone check my new used car to bring anything back to stock that's been modded so I don't have a dealer flag and void any part of my warranty.

We're pretty blessed with a ton of excellent VW shops in north OC.

I know a couple in the Valley but I’m in Ventura County so I usually go to a guy up here called the German auto doctor.

Matts a plus car care in Huntington Beach is also a good choice. Believe they do pre purchase inspections for 120ish or less.

Pacific German is also in OC. My buddy works there and he use to have a modified MK7.5 so he knows them well.


Sorry for the thread jack-- Anyone know of any good tint shops around LA? I called EuroVision but they quoted me $400-$500 for my rear window and the two tiny windows up front.

Is your rear window already tinted? I ask because I had been looking to get mine re-tinted due to a scratch, and apparently tint shops charge an arm and a leg to remove tint prior to re-tinting (it's a lot of work)

Yup, mine is already tinted and has a couple bubbles. Probably why the quote is so high. The original shop wouldn't warranty it so I don't feel like going back to them.
