Let be clear… everyone is basing these potential power ratings off of ONE a car garret shows and ONE dyno Garett shows.

Sure the fundamentals of xx comp when and xx turbine wheel can give us insight to gauge against other turbos and their proven power but till this thing gets out and run on various cars and dynos we don’t know the accuracy…

ED dyno till recently read like a monster and claimed 600+ for a vortex xl… now when you read verbiage from them based on their recalibrated dyno (and many customers cars on various dynos) the vortex xl is said to max out around 550 now.

550 to 600 don’t sound like a big variance but when you drop down to that 400hp range and think of such 380 and 430 is a big difference.
You know how people are with this shit. They see numbers and automatically assume/expect their car to produce the same but didn't bother to read the fine print.

Paging @Ed @ EQT help us clear this up!

I highly recommend at least an upgraded HPFP for ANYTHING over an IS38. Yes its technically possible to run without one at close to 400whp on about 60% of cars out there. But you'll be running on the edge of the fuel system and may end up having issues in colder weather or lower DA. Its just not worth it and upgrading the fuel system accordingly is always the right way to go for optimal performance, reliability, and engine health.

Apparently the MK8 R’s OEM hpfp is double the volume of flow of the Mk7/7.5s. Maybe this will be a drop in solution for those seeking up to 450whp?

If it actually is it would still probably be less expensive to get the Autotech HPFP internals than the cost of a new MK8 R OEM HPFP.
